Got my new truck

Not at all...EVERYONE with the CP4 pump has problems! Ford is just the only one reaming their customers. Fates know I have little kind to say about GM and their awful trucks, but they have warrantied EVERY HPFP failure!

Thats pretty sweet!! I like what Ford has done with their trucks.

You think if I throw $20 your way, you can come up to Metro Detroit and help me launch my boat in the spring and pull it out in the fall?

Ok ok fine. Ill buy you a big mac and shamrock shake too, geesh! lol

Am I the only one that noticed that the angry poster's screen name is the same on both of those forums? There's bad trucks and dealers in every make. This guy had some bad luck so he is spreading his story like the plague.

x2. The first forum "power stroke nation" seems like a diesel tuner fanboy site all about "rolling coal". I love when people buy a diesel truck, know nothing about it, throw on a tuner trying to get lots of power and black smoke, then blame the manufacturer when the truck breaks.

Very sharp looking truck OP!

Ric's truck was 100% stock (except for 5th wheel hitch and accessories) when his pump failed. This is not caused by modifications, this is caused by a fatally-flawed design. Every vehicle with this design should be bought back (at full selling price) and crushed.

It's not safety related so there will not even be a recall. Let alone a mass buy-back. Good luck with your crusade.

So...you don't consider engine failure (meaning: no power brakes!) while coming down a 6% grade with 14,000lbs on the gooseneck safety-related?

Have they already issued a recall for all the cars out there without power brakes? If so I know where there's a 69 Bronco with 4 wheel drums and no power assist that really needs to be taken in.

I will actually back Jar up on this one. Ric is well know on the RV board. Until this truck the guy had to be one of the worst Bleed Ford blue people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
He defended the 6.0 Powerchoke and Ford to a fault. I really felt bad for him and the other guys who have had the same problem. Plenty of them on the RV boards with stock trucks

That isn't to say you will have the problem or that your truck isn't very nice. It is just something to be aware of.
The reason I have a gasser is becuase of the stories I have read on the RV boards for ALL brands. I will go a bit slower on the big hills but won't have some of the Big 3 diesel's problems. Don't get me worng there are not a ton of problems, but the problems range from big to small, and they are all pretty pricey when they need to be fixed and that scares me.

Gee, a guy with a grudge. What a surprise.

But the whole reason I ended up with my 09 Dmax is the RV boards. We tow a 33 foot 5th wheel monster with slideouts, and have never even had a hiccup. But I won't even run a tune on it.

I would agree that diesels have lost many of their advantages to "add on" tech designed for emissions.

And lastly, I despise the "smoke show" dorks who stink up the world with tons of soot. I am hoping that law enforcement takes interest...

There is a yawning chasm between a vehicle without power brakes & a vehicle with FAILED power brakes! Come on, that is just dishonest.

There is also a difference between stopping slower due to losing power assist and not stopping due to a blown out brake line or a tire being punctured by a broken spring or a coolant line bursting next to an exhaust manifold and burning the vehicle up before everyone can get out. Those are the types of things that will issue a recall or buy-back. I'm sorry if your friend got a bad truck and then had to deal with a bad dealer. Unfortunately it happens but it you think Ford is going to buy all these trucks back or even that they should? Well your name must be Tattoo and you must be seeing planes cuz you're living on Fantasy Island!

No, I think BOSCH should be footing the bill for this, not Ford, GM, or VW. They got sold a bill of goods...but while VW and GM are stepping up and making things right, Ford is raping their customers.

Note: a stalling problem (and a minor one: the vehicle would often restart immediately) HAS caused a recall in the past. There IS precedent. Because the only effective repair would violate Federal law (the high injection pressure is for emissions), the only fix is to replace the vehicle. I don't expect it to happen, but that would be the right thing.

Try stopping a late-model diesel truck without any power brakes. Quite simply: you have no chance unless you have legs like a steroid-injecting powerlifter. Even then, you'll probably quintuple (or worse) the stopping distances.

A customer satisfaction recall issued by the manufacturers and Bosch would be the right thing to do. I agree 100% on that. Sometimes the right thing costs money though and I think we all know what any big corporation's priority is.

Is this problem really that bad? I see 1 or 2 very vocal users with a legitimate gripe. The rest of the problems seem to be easily explainable. e.g. def in the fuel or ignoring the wif.

Yes, it is. The problem is NOT water in the fuel. The problem is NOT DEF in the fuel. The problem is that the pump is pumping fuel that does not meet the required standards for it! US diesel fuel does not meet the requirements for the CP4 series HPFP! It is that simple.

Bosch sold GM, Ford, and VW a bill of goods. They should be forced to answer for it...by buying back and destroying every affected vehicle.

I will lock it up since you have taken it far away from what the OP posted.

Take care
