No, I think BOSCH should be footing the bill for this, not Ford, GM, or VW. They got sold a bill of goods...but while VW and GM are stepping up and making things right, Ford is raping their customers.
Note: a stalling problem (and a minor one: the vehicle would often restart immediately) HAS caused a recall in the past. There IS precedent. Because the only effective repair would violate Federal law (the high injection pressure is for emissions), the only fix is to replace the vehicle. I don't expect it to happen, but that would be the right thing.
Try stopping a late-model diesel truck without any power brakes. Quite simply: you have no chance unless you have legs like a steroid-injecting powerlifter. Even then, you'll probably quintuple (or worse) the stopping distances.
