My sister drives a 2000 Infiniti I30 my parents gave her a couple years ago and it has close to 165k now, she wants it to last since she's going to law school and doesn't want to have to buy her own car. Just looking for a decent high mileage oil recommended. I was thinking maxlife, Rotella T5, or if M1 makes a hm oil maybe that. Any help is appreciated, thanks

If she is not burning a significant amount of oil or no leaks are present, she does not need a HM oil. Pennzoil conventional would work well or even a synthetic blend.

pennzoil hm has done well in my son's saturn, its conventional. For a syn i would use m1 hm.

If you/she want it to last just use a name brand oil and a good filter ie. almost anything but an orange Fram. The best deals IMO are at Autozone, Advance Auto, O'Reilly's. They have specials every month with filters. It comes out to a good deal most of the time. Change regularly(in manual) with proper viscosity and you most likely won't have any oil related issues. Like most of the other postee's said there isn't really any reason to go to a HM oil unless you have a slow leak. It is that simple.
We try to get technical with extended drains and UOA's which are great but not necessity.

anything 5w30 sn rated and changed around 5000 miles will make that engine outlast the rest of the car
Supertech HM is supposed to be very good.
I'm looking into trying Valvoline MaxLife synthetic if I can find it for a reasonable price or syn blend. I do use about a quart of oil every 3000 miles, and my bank 1 cat threw a code a few days ago, which I am suspecting might be caused by the slight oil burning. Hopefully a bit of high mileage oil might give the cats a few thousand more miles before I have to replace them.
Also consider watching for sale prices at various parts stores. Pep Boys and others do have some great sale prices on various oils.
Maxlife is good. It stopped alittle leak in our Jetta.
I'd use HM oils without hesitation. They're usually a hair thicker and they do help keep leaks at bay, if you have them. If I don't use a HM oil in my Dakota, the rear main seal leaks.
The Quaker State HM oil is not API-certified, and from what I've read here in previous threads, it's the "truest form" of a high mileage oil, in terms of additives and the formulation. That came from Johnny, who I assume would know the inside line on that oil. I'm using the QS HM in my Dakota, and it runs good in it.

+1 I also know people who have had outstanding results with the Pennzoil Bronze Bottle HM oil. They had Saturn's, Honda's and Fords that burned oil and the Pennzoil HM cut the oil consumption way down to nothing. Lots of people seem to like the Max Life on BITOG but I don't know of anyone, personally, who has used it and had stellar results.

If that engine has been even moderately taken care of it does not need high mileage oil.
My dads VQ30 (2000 Maxima, same car) is so tight it does not burn a drop whatsoever between changes.
Just keep a standard OCI with any normal oil and you'll be fine.
That being said I'd use MaxLife before any others for a HM oil.
