In this corner weighing in at 5w 30 wearing red trunks...Valvoline High Mileage with MaxLife vs Every Other HM oil contender who wins? And why?

Who are your Top Three Contenders:
1.
2.
3.

Thanks in advance.

For me

#1 Mobil 1 HM 5w30
#2 Valvoline Full Synthetic HM 5w30
#3 Quaker State Full Synthetic HM 5w30

The reason why I rank Mobil 1 #1 is out of testing all 3 in my vehicles Mobil 1 resulted in no measurable amount of oil consumption in my Toyota 1MZ-FE and I also noticed what seems to be better cleaning out of the Mobil 1.

My Chevy 4.3 didn't care what oil really.

Received. Thanks sir. I have Tacoma with 350,000 plus miles. I will give the Mobil 1 HM 5w 30 a run. Thanks for your input.

1. Havoline synthetic technology HM. 2, Royal Purple HMX. 3, Cenex Auto Gold HMO, all in 5w-30 viscosity.
Wally World online has good prices on 6qt box Havoline Longlife Full Synthetic. I have couple 6qt boxes in my stash. Thank you for the input.

Not familiar with Centex Auto Gold HMO.

Cenex is a popular oil blender in the midwest (CHS),,they blend their own lubricants I'm told, got a case of their Maxtron 5w-30 to use sometime, got some good comparable specs. and a rather interesting conversation with them.

Are we boxing? Wrestling? MMA?

You don’t define what “win” means.

So, you have no criteria on which to judge performance.

And this becomes an impossible question to answer.

It’s the “which oil is best” question re-stated with a sports slant, and “which oil is best” is a pointless exercise because it fails to define how “best” is determined.

A more honest question - “what oil do you guys like and why?”

If your Toyota has 350,000 miles on it, then the “best” is the oil that you change at an appropriate time. I’m not even sure you need a high mileage. The HM oils are marketing to “fix” certain problems. If you don’t have those problems, do you really need a HM?

What oil did you use to get your truck this far?

Received sir. Thank you. Currently using Valvoline MaxLife synthetic blend. Prior full synthetic various brands that were on sale.

Do you currently have oil consumption issues? I assume you got some seal seepage/leaks at that mileage.

None yet.

Had original head gaskets replaced recently minor radiator fluid leak began. Since repair engine is currently running flawlessly.
My MPG avg 17 to 19. That is with 2.5" lift and 33" tires.

I have seen good results with several brands at this point. Currently have STP High Mileage 5w30 in my truck (89 Chevy 350 TBI). Don't want to go full syn yet because it is old and truly filthy.

It literally had enough sludge on the underside of the valve covers to touch the rocker arms. I cleaned what I could and ran several short intervals since the oil was black right away. Now have high mileage oil in it to stop the puff of blue smoke on startup and sometimes pulling away from a red light. After a few hundred miles, that is all gone, hasn't smoked since.

I think what is more important is to use it and not what brand it is, basically the same concept either way.
