I have to say, I have noticed quite a few newer GM trucks on the side of the interstate with the hoods up. They usually have a camper in tow.

Yeah it pops up under my app so I’m assuming it’s for all 6.2s now.

This is interesting. The Gen V-based 4.3 V6 has always spec'd 5w-30. Does anyone know why it was spec'd differently than the V8s?

Inspection checks for PO016, crankshaft and camshaft should be rotating in sync, but the P0016 code suggests they are out of sync.

I thought the issue was a rod bearing problem?

Dang. I switched to 5W40 in my Vortec 6.2 a few years ago. And then dropped to 0W after reading more about cold starts, watching Lake Speed, etc. Guess I'll never have to worry about that gosh darn loss of propulsion!

Only truck engine I’d even consider at this point would be the 2.7.

If you're talking about the chevy 2.7 turbo, I would say that guys is a no go. My work place has about a dozen of the 2024/2025 Silverado WT 2wd package and 5 of them are current at the dealer waiting for new engines at less than 50k miles.

The connecting rods are Powdered Metal/Sinter Forged.....Automotive manufactures haven't used Cast Iron Rods in decades.

GM has been using PM rods since the mid 90's so this isn't new technology.
