The connecting rods are Powdered Metal/Sinter Forged.....Automotive manufactures haven't used Cast Iron Rods in decades.
GM has been using PM rods since the mid 90's so this isn't new technology.
Good to hear man. Do it and never look back. I honestly dont know why anyone with the Gen V didn't stick with 5W30. I know all of mine and everyone who would listen to me has never ran 0 20.Why the 6.2 and not the 5.3? What differences? More stress on the rods? Different rod materials? I’m probably going to bump my 24 Silverado 5.3L up to synthetic 5W30 (Florida) unless there is reason not to…
Alot of the times they honestly dont know exactly what is causing it, so they try different methods with very few R&D hoping it is resolved (but it isnt) and quality isnt like it was in the 70s where they would shut the whole line down until its resolved...heck no. That costs them and their suppliers (that they have committed buying so many dollars worth) too much....so before you know it they have millions of defective parts and would rather hope warranty runs out before it fails OR they get lucky and fix it by accident. New tooling costs thousands if not millions in some instances. It's all about the $$$I’m glad to hear. Imagine if they would have just done the right thing in 2021. I dont understand…this isn’t new technology.
It said the bearing caps are cast nodular iron, not the rods themselves.
If you're talking about the chevy 2.7 turbo, I would say that guys is a no go. My work place has about a dozen of the 2024/2025 Silverado WT 2wd package and 5 of them are current at the dealer waiting for new engines at less than 50k miles.
They're cracked cap....meaning the rod is formed/forged as one piece.
Only one. Mobil 1SupercarI wonder what oils meet dexos R?
I work for a GM dealer, and was browsing a GM tech page on fb after work hours. That’s how I found it.Can you provide a link where you found this recall? I’m not finding it online.
My boss has a truck with this engine, seems to be burning some oil.
That’s what we stock for the “new” Escalade V’sOnly one. Mobil 1Supercar
