GM has ruined the looks of the new Corvette so bad I now like the Camaro better

I think the C8 styling is proof that working for the UAW means it is almost impossible to be fired. The designers of the Pontiac Aztek were just reassigned to the C8 project.
That's hilarious! The C8 definitely has the the same styling ques of the Aztek...

Pontiac made a lot of beautiful cars in the past. Up until the point that they started adding all that hideous body cladding back in the late 1980's and 1990's.
The Aztek, well it has gained infamy in the same way that the Gremlin and Pacer have. I predict that by the 2030's the C8 will have a reputation for performance but will look highly dated and not be a modern classic. The mid- 2010s' decade and up to a lot of current models from many makers are going to be looked at like many of the cars from the 1958 to 1961 period. As in WTH were they thinking ?

Remember when the C6 first came out, with fixed headlights? Heresy! People lost their minds! LOL All the styling changes are very deliberate. Manufacturers do extensive research into the market demands, what do people want, what direction is the industry going and how can we be on the bleeding edge of tomorrow. C8 is the result and it is a truly great car. It has GM's first dual-clutch transmission and they got it right. I don't personally care for the jet-fighter styling, but the MR platform is brilliant and the only way to significantly increase performance over the C7. Now the U.S. can properly compete with the best supercars of Europe, at 1/4 the price. Gotta love that! :D

Those designers are salary not union. I went to salary later on in life. I sure liked getting all the union benefits and things they fought for added to me. Because the salaried can’t get less benefits than the union folks, it just looks bad. That’s why we all enjoy our 40 hour work week now, versus the old days 72. Even if not in a union. Trickle up. 😄

The UAW guys work on the production lines in the factories, car designers wear nice suits, work in office buildings and don't belong to the UAW.

Perhaps this is more palatable at BITOG

It seems like the vast majority of people on here who are complaining about the way the C7 and C8 look are of the older generations.
You guys grew up with C2 and C3 looking all good, rolling around everywhere.
Then the C4 showed up, and you guys whined that "Its not a Corvette anymore", with its wide, flat, curveless shape.
Then as they started pouring power into the C4, you were like "Well, who really cares about curves when I can have a ZR-1."
Then the C5 and C6 came out, and now you think they are what Corvettes should look and drive like.

Well, in a couple years, the C8 will have won you all over.

Or you'll all be dead.

Either way, its for those of us who are in our 40's and 30's to appreciate the current generation of Corvettes, and fall in love with them over the coming years. You guys just sit back and enjoy your time in the assisted living facility until you get called to your next adventure.

What was cool about C5s and C6s (aside from the fact that the C5 saved the Corvette from being dropped), is that they still had some of the traditional styling ques of the original Corvettes. The C8 has none of them. It in no way, shape, or form resembles a Corvette. The Corvette was always the American sports car, and it looked like it. Now it looks like an import. I'm not arguing it's advancements in performance, those are undeniable, but it's looks are totally up for debate...

So there is no Corvette generation you like? You are not a car guy, are you?
I am what you would call a “car guy”. I have a passion for the automotive world just like many on this site. The Corvette has always come across as a mid life crisis type car. No doubt it is one of General Motors best works and it shows what they are capable of, it’s just not my cup of tea.

Good looks, smooth lines, flow of design and well proportioned shapes never go out of style. There are many, many cars from the 1930's, 1940's, 1950's and 1960's that while dated, still look good today. The C8 isn't going to be in that category ever.
Could it be that those of you in your 30's and 40's who appreciate the current models are just used to the concept of a trophy for everyone, no winners and losers, and please don't hurt anyone's self esteem that you will accept something that defies all measures of automotive beauty ?
Kind of like a Picasso vs. the Venus de Milo.

I thought I saw another one leaving the neighborhood the other day... I looked more closely as it went by...
I was wrong; it was a McLaren. I was disappointed.

Well, I have a Porsche Cayman, Alfa Giulia, 500 Abarth, and 3 different Ducatis in my garage that shows that I like vehicles with curves and classic lines.

I have, however, felt that the Corvette was a dull looking squished blob that is overly wide and long ever since the C4 was released, and the C5 and C6 did nothing to improve that styling look.
The C7 was the first Corvette that I liked the looks of since the C2 and C3.
The C8 then adds more interior refinement to the overall package.

It's still way too wide and long in my opinion, but I still like how it looks compared the the C4 through C6 versions.

There is no way to deny that the Corvette is designed to attract a different buyer than the C4 through C6 generations did.
The C7 was there to help you guys transition to the future.

And finally, I find it hilarious that you throw out comments about participation trophies as an insult, when you seem to forget that it was probably your generation that CREATED participation trophies. It wasn't the kids who created participation trophies, it was the parents who demanded that people celebrate how special their precious offspring are.

Then again, that's not exactly fair.
Participation trophies were invented in the 1920's, which means, that as an entire generation, the Boomers have earned more participation trophies than any generation that has come after them, since there were more Boomers born than any generation afterwards.

But I'll tell you what.
I'll give you a nice trophy for trying to slip an insult into your comment.
You tried to be witty, but, like most things, you came up just a bit short.

Yeah, Mustangs are a dime a dozen around here...Camaros, not so much...
they came in with the 5th gen after a break, did some nice numbers and then the fad died out. the mustang is big boss in this segment and will always pull in the numbers no matter what.

we’re gonna see the new bronco perform well and then burn out for the same reasons.
