GM Gen VI V-8 engine will be available in 2027

GM is a good example of a company lost to a one-way ideology that doesn't work. One person at the top runs around in her leather jackets acting cool like she's Fonzi. How does someone like that get to be CEO? All I can guess is all the people around her are stuck in the same group-think. If GM goes bust again, the government will just bail them out again... that must be it. Ford looks to have an intelligent leader, though I never heard him standing up for what's right before.
Your question about the CEO is valid but in my opinion proves just one point… GM is making so much profit on the sell of these vehicles even with engine failures-replacements the major shareholders don’t care. As has been mentioned, the masses will keep buying them.

While they might not make as much power as modern LT engines, the old 305 and 350 TBI, & TPI was stone cold reliable.
I had a bunch of those 1989 454 TBI, 1988 350 TBI, 1997 CPI, 1991 TBI. No way way were they better than my 02, 17 and my current 6.6. Intake leaks, injector problems, TBIs warping, 700R4 crap, Turbo 400, 60 mph just over 3000 RPM. The big block truck got an engine at 54,000 miles. People forget they were not great new. They seem good now because people know what the problems are. I will take my 6.6 any day of the week.

I never said they were perfect. But, they were inherently less problematic than any current LT.
The 6.6 is LT based. The 5.3 sure the dod ruins it. Having owned all of them I still disagree., but I digress and will go with Billy Joel. The good old days weren't always good and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems. I don't want to go back.

I took a ride with my Dad yesterday. His project truck, a 1972 K10 short bed (350, 4spd, 4x4) is now a driving project. Lotta fun cruising around. But as we romanticize the old iron, the old stuff is...

... old.

We had to climb a little hill and the truck really began to bog in high gear. Had to shift to second (L, 1, 2, & 3) to get to the top of the hill and we slowed to about 30 with a line of cars behind us. But, its a cool truck. I mis having an old rig to putter with.

I'm glad GM is addressing the issues and starting with some new engines. Hopefully this turns the tide for them.
