Gillette sues DSC

My last 3 purchases of Gillette Mach 3 cartridges, purchased on Amazon, sold and shipped by Amazon,<(this means no fakes) have averaged a $1.65. My last batch of 10 was $10.67 after I used a coupon on Amazon. BTW these shave good for at least a month each. I shave 5 days a week. Folks you can buy the real McCoy reasonably, just don't go to Walgreens,CVS, and the like. Even avoid Wally.

Edwin Jagger $30
Generic Badger brush $15
100 Persona Blue $11

3 shaves per blade (could easily go long) all in all the 100 pack lasts me 2 years pretty easy. Any soap works you don't need a special type. Beck I've used bar soap once or twice just for laughs.

I use the double blades from DSC along with their shave butter. I get the best shave I have ever had with this combination!

I can run the blade in any direction using their shave butter and the wife loves my smooth skin after I shave.

Gillette is starting to cut their prices. Last time I got some Fusion razors, Amazon had a decent $6 off coupon, but then just about a month ago, Gillette had a $10 coupon on top of the $6 coupon so I got them for $1.41 each. The time before, they were $2.41 a blade. Regular price at Walmart is like $3-$4 a cartridge.

^^^This, and the fact that they make my face numb, is why I cannot use manual, bladed razors.

I don't use the DE blades; I use Sensors or Quattros or Protectors and so forth, depending upon my mood, with a brush, too. My late grandfather, who never owned an internal combustion engine in his life, got himself an electric razor virtually the second he got a house with electricity. Yet, I'm doing it the old fashioned way.

I can get a ten pack of disposable razors from Dollar General for about one dollar. I use bar soap for shaving lather and get about a week from a razor. I get a "good enough " shave for $ 5.20 per year. ( 10 cents per razor times 52 weeks)

There is cheap and then there is Tom :-)

I saw a commercial from gillette "shave club". so they are taking on dollar shave club. this lawsuit is trying to sue them out of existence

Those razor blades are ridiculously overpriced with their artificial fixed pricing. Contact lenses are the same way, I am hoping they are the next to fall.

For $3 a month i thought i would try it. Signed up wed night. I only shave every other day, so there will be enough for me and my son.

When I shaved every day, I tried all sorts of overpriced junk. Then, I went back to what worked: cheap single-blade disposables from CVS or Walmart. They worked as well as anything else and better than most.

My friend still shaves with an old (~~1930) barber's straight razor his grandfather gave him.

I've used single edge, and double edge. I don't see how people shave with the monstrous 4 adn 5 blade heads. Can't trim around mustache.

You have either never used any good wet shaving razors, or you simply don't how to do it, because there's no way a shave from an electric razor can touch a wet shave from a blade. I used to shave with an electric, but I have a heavy beard and if I shaved in the morning, by the afternoon it would look like I didn't even shave. I can get such a close shave wet shaving that my face still looks clean shaven the next day...

Same here. And instead of DSC since I shave 2-3 times per week, I bought Dorco blades on Amazon. cheaper.

I've been wet shaving for decades and I've been through all of the different blades and carts. These some of my findings;

Carts with more than 2 blades are pretty much just a gimmick, with the exception of the Mach 3. That gives a decent shave. Anything with 4 or more blades is just a waste of time and money.

Any kind of shave cream or gel that comes in a can is easily bested by creams such as Kiss My Face, Cremo, or Proraso, or Soaps such as Tabac or Arko. These are just a few products and there are many, many more available that are all superior to canned products.

I get my best shaves using either a DE or my Atra handle with these carts:

I get just as close and comfortable a shave with these as I do using DE razors, but they're more convenient to use. Also, they are so inexpensive, I use them once and throw them away. Why not use a fresh blade every time you shave? These carts are every bit as good as the genuine Gillette carts, but far less expensive.

I have tried the DSC carts (the 2 and 4 blade carts) and I didn't like either of them. As someone mentioned earlier, they are made by Dorco. BTW, you can buy Dorco carts and see for yourself they are the same exact carts. I did, and I didn't care for those either. DSC is a good thing though because it's cutting into Gillette's market. If you can use their blades, good for you!

I'm tempted to try Harry's as they supposedly have better quality blades.

Gillette is just throwing a hissy fit because these companies are cutting into their profits...maybe they'll wise up and stop charging $30+ for a pack of carts that probably cost them $2 or $3 to produce, but I doubt it...without price gouging, there's goes their big profits!

I use everything to shave and adapt to it, but what I like the most are my cheap single blade razors with a little white tab that you push on the backside and it forces out the build up under the blade.

Same here. Plus my beard and mustache hair is very fine and rather than cutting the hairs the electric razors pull them out which hurts like beejesus.

I do use a Walls beard trimmer when I am ready to go clean shaven after growing my beard and 'stache out to knock it down but even that hurts and pulls if I am not careful.

Shaving cream and a handheld razor are a must for me on close shaves.

The thing is, DSC doesn't make their own blades. They get them from dorco.

Unless im mistaken, this would be like coke suing walmart because the pepsi they sell tastes too much like coke....

Shouldn't They be suing the folks who make the blades, not the reseller?

I'm thinking the DSC is cutting into their profits in a big way so this is a ploy to shut them down and eliminate the competition.

Started shaving with an electric in my teens, moved to single blade disposables in my 20's.

As time passed, it seemed the quality (and expence) of shaving was getting worse all the time as razors added more bades and gimmicks.

Until, about a year ago, after reading about members on this site switching to DE razors, I thought I'd give it a try.

I bought a new Rapira DE razor from Russia, a 100 blade variety pack of Russian blades and 3 sticks of Arko soap from Turkey.
My total investment, including shipping has been about $15.

I tell you, I'm now getting the best shaves that I have had in my whole life!
The switch to DE shaving has been a revelation.

I do not like the idea of being in a club of any kind which companies drafting out of my bank account automatically.

I choose to buy a mens grooming pack from Dorco about once a year.

I get a womans grooming pack for my wife once a year also.

Each kit is about 35 dollars when on sale, and I have more than enough razors for the both of us for a year.

I throw them out whenever I want to, and I laugh when I walk down the aisle of walmart and see 4 gilette blade refilles for $19.

My favorite dorco razor is the two blade disposable.

The ones with five and six blades seem to get clogged with hair too quickly.
