Gigafactory Texas expansion

I'm sure Musk's paycheck and stock grants hold Zhu leverage as well. Remember Tesla is a civilian car company, not a military one.
Sure. Another thing is, I have found that the execs work like they do in large part because it's who they are. Sure the $$ is incredible, but these people are driven. They are often not the best family men (and women), but they get things done. Big things. Heck, Shanghai broke ground to production in 10 months. Who does that?
Musk brought Zho's manufacturing engineers to Fremont to help with factory efficiency and to build the Highland lines.
I say give credit where credit is due.

Can you explain this? It makes no sense to me. Thanks in advance.
The bottom line is, Tesla, in about 20 years, has become the most valuable car company in the world. Their EVs are highly profitable and taking market share in every segment they play in. No one else makes a penny on their EV business, in fact they lose billions.
Sears was one of the biggest companies duringmost of the 1900s. Look where they are now. Teslas current success isn't indicative of future performance. "During the company’s most recent call with Wall Street analysts, however, Musk sidestepped a question about pricing and delivery schedules. Instead, he said deliveries would come this year. He also echoed past warnings that beginning production of a new vehicle can be tricky.

“The production ramp will move as fast as the slowest and least lucky elements of the entire supply chain and internal production,” Musk said last month."
Investors and the board at Tesla would be wise to part ways with the Muskrat. At this point he seems more and more like a liability to the company not an asset. Musk already said he put five projects on hold plus dumped untold sums into cybertruck production. Now it sounds like additional delays again? He seems very detached from whats really going on within the company.

You do realize in the not to distant future we are going to war with these people and it is not going to be nice,
They want to buy or steal every trade and military secret they can get to use against us. As a Chinese working as a executive for Tesla in China this guy did not just walk away from the CCP.
Tell literally every company in the world then.

I'll tell you what nations we have problem trading with at the moment: Iran, N Korea, Belarus, Cuba, etc. China is not one of them (at least not on EV). I don't know where you get your news from but again, we are not talking about SpaceX or StarLink, it is just a "toy" car company people bash on all day, why so serious?

Until it's not. I was reading in the WSJ a couple of days ago regarding "political-risk coverage". Companies insure their foreign assets against seizure and the issuance of new policies and the number of insures have decreased in markets such as China. For example some Western companies in China have already had their assets seized based upon an expanded view of Nat'l Security. @Trav et al are arguing that no Chinese national is safe from the long arm of the CCP and perhaps Musk is trying to placate the CCP by making a Chinese national head of the largest automaker in the world. Propaganda machine will eat it up.

+1 Musk had his reasons for picking him, and "political-risk coverage" could be one of many reasons. China is not our friend, and maybe Musk is hedging his bet there.

I would if I were him. A couple of years ago a Mercedes Benz executive was quoted as being held over a barrel with regards to having to use Chinese battery manufacture CATL. Just a couple of years later CATL built a huge factory in Germany. Shocker.

I would too, Musk is a bright guy, he knows exactly what he's doing. Having said that China can stick it to him too. Once again they aren't our friends, and they're pretty smart too. In any event this could become very interesting. Time will tell.

Tesla is still continuing to take "Carbon offset money " This was after the Muskrat said he disagrees with subsidies.
Unfortunately from a shareholder perspective Tesla is essentially required to take advantage of the carbon offsets so who knows whether we should believe him.

Absolutely, the Chicoms control way too much of what we need to survive. Food, medicine, almost everything the US consumers buy.

On the bright side it's not like a foreign agent can take many if not most of these assets with them. Reminds me of the time when a Japanese company bought Times Square back in the 1980's. My dad was like, "meh, who cares, it's not like they're going to dismantle the buildings and move them to Japan".

I don't know if it's worth debating tin foil hat with his borderline racial slurs. His posts are essentially a recording at this point.

Do you think an American or anyone else for that matter can buy land in China and set up a spy station close to a military installation? These things are happening, it is not tin foil hat stuff.

Sad, trying to play the race card for the term chicom is pretty sad, what would you prefer, Chinese communist? LOL
If you don't like what I say put me on ignore instead of getting yourself all worked up.(y)
