Getting married, where to register?

I am getting married in September and I am going register for some tools as gifts. The question is where should I register? I am thinking either Sears for Craftsman, or Home Depot for Dewalt, Stanley, Milwaukee, Makita, etc.

I don't really know a whole lot about these brands other than Craftsman used to have a great reputation and it is the stuff my father and probably grandfather used. But I wonder if they are still good tools. I have seen quite a few Dewalt tools around so I figure they must be alright. I know nothing about Milwaukee or Makita.

I went to Home Depot to look around and some of their stuff just looked and felt cheap. So I'm not sure what to go with. If I am going to get other people to buy tools for me for my wedding, I might as well register for the good ones. I was just hoping to get some advise from you folks. If y'all were in my position, what would you do?
 
I've bought a lot of tools, and there really isn't one great place to get all the good stuff. The closest you can come to one place is online, places like toolup.com and mytoolstore.com

Contact them, maybe they have a registry service? Or could maybe work with you to get it done if you wanted to buy from them.

The key to getting what you want is research. For instance, recently I wanted a new 3 cell D size flashlight, and discovered through research that Maglite came out with a new model over a year ago that's brighter, etc, but they still make/sell the old style.

Sears is a good bet, as they have many non-tool things that are good wedding presents.

Really, don't try to get more than a couple tools on a wedding registry as this is something that brides take very seriously. You don't want to damage your marriage right out of the gate! Weddings are ALL ABOUT the bride, not the groom. Good luck!
 
Sears has good sockets, and wrenches for the average homeowner. Klien has the best pliers, Snap on has the best screwdrivers.

My opinion. If you can afford it Snap-on socket wrenches and sockets would be excellent but overkill for a home guy.

The Cobalt brand from Lowes is ok quality and some of the stuff is US made, Husky from home depot is all chinese now and I actually broke their tools garbage stay away.

Ha! I must have a good one then because she is all for it. I didn't really have to ask. She registers for the fine china and linens and [censored], I get to register for the kitchen cutlery and tools. I love my fiancee!

I am just looking for general tools and power tools for around the house and for whatever else. I don't have any projects planned currently but I want to start building my tool arsenal. Stuff ranging from automotive, to woodworking, to electrical and so on and so forth.

I think I am just going to do Sears.
 
Be very careful if you register with the Snap-on guy. Your wife might not be to happy when you unveil the poster of the bikini babe with the tool belt. Or better yet,ask for the tool belt and give your fiance'/wife the itsy bitsy bikini. hint, hint, hint!
