I believe that you're correct, but it may not have been the case back in the very distant past when this thread originated.

Personally, I would have dumped the oil immediatly and simple saved it in case the problem continued after I put the previous brand of oil back in.

I saved some Redline that was in a transmission that I removed for some forgotten reason and then put it back in after getting comfortable with it.

If you have preignition issues you need to get them sorted out. Light detonation does very real damage to piston faces which increases the engine's propensity for knock.

There is no reason for the engine to knock unless there is a mechanical, electrical, cooling or fuel problem. the 1MZ has a knock detection system which is known to be a bit oversensitive. If it's to the point where you can actually hear it.. you need to find the problem.
