Let me guess, Honda Civic, right? Accord maybe? This sounds suspiciously similar to my wife's Civic. What a royal PITA to get that filter off. They couldn't have made it any harder to reach if they tried.

i found i can get the oil filter out of my TSX from top without going under. all K24 shall be the same location, not sure about K20 or civic, but you can try access from top at passenger side. with FRAM Sure Drain, i change oil with tires on the ground..
