Gas stealing

So, I am in Autozone yesterday and ask the manger if fuel additive sales have increased.
"No" He says, " But locking gas caps are, I am sold out". He further goes on to tell me that Police at a neighboring Walmart had surrounded the parking lot cause a group of thieves with 12 5 gal. gas cans were siphoning folks gas tanks.

Also that 12 volt portable pumps were sold out as well.

So for maybe...maybe for a savings of 30-49 cents a gallon from a month ago idiots are risking jail time to steal gas.

Latest thing in our area is to simply cut the hoses on pickups/SUVs. Locking gas cap no help.

Now, an idea on armor (spiral wrap metal?) would be good.
