I needed to get a few items at the supermarket and noticed gas was up about 20 cents/gal today to $3.599. That's what is at the Mobil and Sunoco near the shopping center, but the Shell which I use anyway was $3.39. I was hoping it would be the same price when I got out of the supermarket. It still was and I filled up and it literally jumped to $3.59 when I hung up the nozzel. I heard this woman that pulled all the other side of the pump say it just jumped in price. That was reallly close lol.

$3.55/gallon here, for Marathon gas. 7-11 was $3.49 last night, Race Trac had it for $3.45, IIRC.

It is getting ridiculous. It's almost to $4/gal now and the prices can jump 20-30 cents daily. Meanwhile there is good supply of oil. What will happen if there really were supply issues? I don't want to get that debate started again about how it really is supply and demand

I hope you cry when I tell you this; but I just got gas after work today at a mom and pop station for 3.20$ gallon!! Around my area its still 3/35$ gallon and my vehicle has a 9gal tank!

I filled the Expy today at $1.18/L. That's $4.47/US Gallon

I was exited this morning to see our gas went down to $3.81! It went down .02 over night.
Quit crying already about how much gas costs! What would everyone do if the car wasnt made?! Thought so; as everyone would be riding a horse to work! People dont think at all in this country which is sad as they should use their heads for something MORE USEFUL OTHER THAN USING THEIR HEAD AS A COAT HANGER.
You guys pay more gas taxes, but it is this increases in base oil/gas prices that gets to some. Imagine if everything increased in price like that. Anyway why are some people painting my thread as a gas price complaint thread? It was mostly about how I beat a gas price increase in the nick of time.
Sure it is getting expensive but it isn't bad. Come on, this has been many years in the making and if you think it would never reach what we have right now you are kidding yourself.
If you have downsized most of your vehicles and find ways to drive less, you already have prepared as much as you could. So, you've already done what you can and just sit back and relax, and think about what else you can do to save money on instead.

I got pwned a while back, I still remember, it was $2.33, the cheapest gas in the state according to gasbuddy, and I was getting out to pump when an employee told me to hold on a minute. The pumps went blank then came back on at $2.37. Augh!

That's not so bad 4 cents or about 2% and what we were always use to seeing. In this case I pwned the Shell station just before they realized everyone else around them was charging 20 cents more a gallon. It is not easy to find a station with lower prices than the rest since they seem to have a mechanism for knowing what the going rate everywhere else is.

A guy came in today and a few of were talking about the gas prices.. he said he worked for Chevron at the refinery and said that as much as we easily blame the gas company, it's not their fault.
He said that (I live in SF Bay Area) they're slapped with a tax as soon as the tanker approaches the bay, then they're hit with another tax when it docks.
THEN you have the unionized labor to remove the oil.
then after it's refined and sold, it's taxed again.
He said something interesting... a long while ago the gas pumps used to say how much taxes were going to California and Federal gov't.. and now you don't see that breakdown anymore.
I haven't seen the tax stickers on the pumps that I've been around.
But he said there's no shortage of oil, just greedy stock traders pushing up the price because of the season.
I honestly believe him pertaining to the taxes.. it doesn't surprise me.

Yeah there is mostly fixed labor cost and taxes. That was true when gas was $1 or $2/gal. It's the continual increase in prices despite large supply that gets to some.

I didn't intend to make this thread about that or want to get in that debate, but the big market players control so much wealth that they can increase the price or create bubbles anywhere they want, housing, farmland and food, precious metals, etc. Actual consumers and producers seem to be merely a side bit part when they should be the main part.
