Gas mileage improvement after new motor break-in?

Yes I think modern engines do see a slight improvement in efficiency after some wear-in miles. It's not just the rings seating // better compression, it's the main/rod bearings and oil seals loosening up slightly, all reducing friction. Plus the computers continue to learn the whole time, not just for the driver's habits but also the slight differences in resistance as the engine loosens up. All leading to slightly increased efficiency.
