Gas cap for Toro Timemaster

Not to highjack, but with your OPE experience have you ever seen a Timemaster swapped with a GCV190? I saw someone do it online and rejetted the carb to allow a torque increase to better match demand, but I would be hesitant to do this going to that small of a displacement for this deck.
I haven't seen one swapped with a GCV190 yet. I know the older Timemasters came with a smaller engine, a 190cc Briggs I believe.

I'd be curious to see if the GCV190 had enough power. I have two of them, one on a logsplitter and another on a pressure washer and they are plenty powerful enough for that, but not sure about thick grass.

Forget $90 for a new OE tank. If I were you:

1. Buy a larger aux tank (common Timemaster upgrade due to undersized stock tank) for the same or less money.

OR

2. Buy a CV224. Comes with a larger tank for FREE. :ROFLMAO:

Not sure the hours on your Briggs but for $500 option 2 is compelling to get a motor worthy of the machine. Mine is only a season old but the first half-descent excuse I get to dump the Briggs out it comes.
Would the engine you mention will that be a drop in as far as bolt holes, shaft size for pulley?

Shaft size is the same, I believe the only thing needed is to tap holes in the bottom of the Kohler that line up with those on the Timemaster deck, as the Kohler doesn't have any pre-drilled if I remember correctly. There are how-tos on YouTube, but this is a common engine swap for both the old 190cc and the new 223cc mowers. The Kohler is an actual commercial engine with a filter, larger tank, and is rated 11hp up from 10 on the Briggs so a small bump but I've read that the torque curve is better on the Kohler as well.

Ft lbs actually

So I ran the mower for an hour mulching leaves and it was 50F. The engine did not stop once for a vacuum-in-gas-tank issue where I open gas cap and close it an restart the mower.. I assume the plastic tank and/or cap contracted enough to allow in enough air.

The new Kohler engine is in a box waiting until I am done mulching leaves. The Kohler was discontinued so I ordered one from a company that has some left. I am told other engines in production would require more alteration that the Kohler.

They discontinued the cv224?

Are you sure? I've had them do that and it was just that they changed the part number. Same thing happened with my belt on another mower. Couldn't find the belt ANYWHERE until someone said it had been superseded. They use this engine on the turf master. The exmark uses the smaller cv200 it's the reason I bought the commercial toro version over the commercial exmark was the slightly bigger engine. It's actually the same engine, they just bored it put more i think to get the extra 24cc

I contacted a few online companies that sell small engines. I asked for a drop in replacement for a Toro Timemaster and mentioned the Kohler CV224. Only one company still had access to a few Kohler CV224. The others said the Kohler CV224 was discontinued and other replacement engines would require some work.. So not a drop in.

I think I was told they were going to two cylinder in that engine size.

Do you know which crankshaft size we need? Guess I need to buy this engine to replace my old briggs that the crankshaft broke on.
