I'd like your opinion on those garage lifts that you can drive on and service your car plus store another car under it. My main question being is how high does your ceiling have to be for 2 cars (one on the lift and one under)in one spot?? I am planning on putting my Corvette on top and my Buick Grand National below. I've done some measuring, but I'd rather hear from somebody who actually has one and how it works for them. I am guesing that a 9' ceiling would be the absolute minimum and that's with the garage opener removed to make room!

THANKS!

You just measure from the floor to the top of the lift ramp at its highest position and then take that figure and add it to the height of your Corvette. What else is there?

No shat. I figured that one out. Just wanted to hear from someone who actually has and uses one.

Easy dude..you said: "My main question being is how high does your ceiling have to be for 2 cars [Corvette/Buick] (one on the lift and one under)in one spot?? "

Did you just want us all to know you had a Corvette?

Sorry.

Does sound disprespectful after reading it the next day- can't delete it though. No, I don't want anyone to know what cars I own - just helps with my situation and what I was asking about. I called a manufacturer, got my info that sounds logical and the lift should be installed in about 4 weeks. Hopefully it will work as promised because I don't know anyone that is using one now.

My parents have a 4-post Superlifts lift for their Corvette. They used to have a Lincoln Mark 8 that they kept underneath the Corvette. If it's just for storage you won't have to lift it as high.

Their garage is one of those condo garages with the long sloping roof. The roof inside the garage starts at about 8' by the door and goes up from there. They had the tracks of the garage door modified to follow the slope of the roof to get a little extra clearance. They back in the car so they can get a good 5' clearance under the lift.

There might be a time when you need to raise the Corvette all the way up on the lift with its hood open; factor that into your measurements also.

Thank you DMC - that's the type of info I was looking for. I will also have to modify my garage door for ceiling clearance, but all should be fine. The other comment posted about the hood being open is great point. As it stands, I probably wouldn't be able to go high enough with the hood open to comfortably work underneath. But, it'll do for 90% of my work needs.

Thanks Merkava 4. A pic is worth 1000 words. Wish I had your ceiling height.
