Garage Door Opener w/Battery Backup

Finally getting around to installing garage door openers, and here's what I'm looking at right now:
Liftmaster 3850
or
Chamberlain WD962KD.

Battery backup is important, because we live out in the boonies, and outages are relatively common events. :dunno: Reading the reviews at Amazon.com, the knock on the Chamberlain is that the battery doesn't automatically re-charge, while the Liftmaster's does. :yes:

Opinions?

Any better/other options?

I've been using my Wayne Dalton i-Drives for over 2 trouble free years now, but........I also live where power outages are rare.

During the time of deciding which opener to use, I got a more positive feedback from Liftmasters in general. If I'm not mistaken, both are offerings of the Chamberlain Group, where the Chamberlain brand is targeted at DIYers, and the Liftmasters are for the professionally installed crowd. May not be too relevent, but I would guess the LMs are a bit more reliable since not many contractors like "return" work.

I have the Liftmaster 3850 for one of the garage doors - 18' Raynor. It has been installed for 3 years & the battery portion hasn't caused any problems. I did have to replace a circuit board a few weeks after install. There was no drama from Liftmaster customer service/warranty as the new one arrived, & I sent the old one back.

I think you're right. I went to the Chamberlain site, and when I clicked on "Commercial" openers, it went to Liftmaster. As it turns out, one of the guys who works here does garage doors/openers on the side, and works with Chamberlain, so, I'm sure he can get the LM.
