G96 CLP ?

They make two different gun oils. The synthetic Gun Oil CLP one is approved for military use in the USA (MIL-PRF-63460E). (As of a year or so ago, it is/was the ONLY commercially available lube on the market available to consumers that meets MIL-PRF-63460E. There may be other lubes that are certified to meet that at this point, but I'm not sure. And there is a difference between a manufacturer saying it meets specs and a manufacturer that has actually been through the testing and become certified) Make sure to buy the synthetic one. I have used the synthetic one and honestly feel that if you want to buy/use only one product, than this is it. The stuff is fantastic. I own about 20 gun oils, and this stuff is my absolute favorite for most guns. I do prefer a thicker lube on AR platform rifles.

They also make this stuff which I find to be a decent enough cleaner and rust preventer, but not that great of a lube (and hard to apply if using as a lube).

+1 - I have used this one as well on my pistols and bolt rifles and it works well.

Mil spec requirements are low for CLP, only requiring 70% on the first pass clean. Mpro7 LPX does 98% first pass

And? Its not certified. If it could pass the test, then they would submit it as such, and get it fully certified. The military contracts are HUGE and that is where the lube companies like to make their bread and butter money.

Bubba... Your G96 synthetic pic shown here is not a CLP. It's a LP.
Currently my (2) CLPs are Lucas Extreme Duty and Slip 2000EWL. I use old-school Ballistol CLP on all my gun exteriors.

Negative, it's a CLP. This is the same stuff, packaged differently for the military. Clearly says CLP right on the package.
Read the website. Clearly spelled out as a CLP.

Your first pic is not a CLP. As for that 2nd pic, I've never seen that bottle before. Is it exclusive for military, or do places like Bass Pro Shop sell it?

I am in the camp that after 15 years on Bitog...no one is yet to p[rove that one oil is better than another in terms of performance. Yes a quality syn may go a bit longer. But I am willing to bet that in 150K miles..changing the oil every 6K miles the engine longevity is not a function of the brand.
Probably the brand and type of gun oil is not different except maybe in a highly used AR.
Clean and lube the firearm every 500 rounds and it will look the same no matter what oil you use. I would buy this oil bc it suckered me in. Which I may do..lol.

In fact, it's silly. Why would you limit yourself to using the same product to remove barrel fouling, as you would to lubricate slide rails or bolt lugs?
I've used the G96 (spray can treatment) once brush cleaning slides. I still wipe and oil afterwards.
Currently its Bore Tech carbon and Bore Tech copper (out of Bore Tech Eliminator) - and either Weapon Shield oil or EWL Slip 2000 oil. I've tend to use the CLPs now for other things around the home.

I'd be willing to give the G96 LP a try as I use other products for cleaning .

My problem with G96 is their labeling. Everything they sell is a CLP. Or so it is stated on the can or bottle. It's not a "Gun Oil", a "Synthetic Gun Oil", or a "Gun Treatment". That is confusing the product. If it's a CLP, then that's what it is, and what it should be sold as. Nothing else they put on the label will take it out of that category. I should also mention that G96 is not the only one out there doing this.

G96 says their "triple action" products "Cleans, Lubricates & Protects" ... so it's basically a "CLP".
