Im in the process of removing the fuel filter which has 3 lines coming out from it connecting at various points. I'm having a tough time getting them to disconnect. They have a plastic snap type connector that doesn't want to budge. This is the original fuel filter and I don't want to break anything and turn this into a major repair. Can anyone give any useful advice? Wish I could post a picture but there is no way my wife will let me touch her camera with my dirty hands.

Is there a tool that I need? Or one that that I already have that will make it easier?
IIRC there is a tool made for that, it works for the older Ford AC 'O' Rings as well as the Fuel lines for EFI.

You really need an aluminum tool 5/16 works best for the Fords. The plastic tools flex just enough to be a real PITA to work effectively.

Orielys should have them for around 6 bux
Also when you insert the tool you must push on the line to engage the tool then pull. Likely will need to rotate the tool while doing so. The new filter should come with new plastic clips so you can do whatever means to remove the old ones

Thanks guys, unfortunately this will have to wait till next weekend since the wife needs to take my son to a Bday party and she sure as heck isn't driving the Stang as I do not want to replace a clutch as well. I'll pick up the tool and hopefully this will be easy.
With the tool it is no problem. I would suggest relieving the pressure in the fuel system before you do the job, most mechanics don't but.................
Thanks demar - I always relieve the pressure....Its so easy and while I don't think anything would happen it makes just enough sense that I will take the extra 2 minutes.
