ok some people say that if you use fuel cleaners often then it will accumulate in the oil. well with saying that, i bought a big bottle of lucas cleaner and u can use it with only 3oz per bottle instead of the conventional 12 oz.

now if i use this with every tank full or every 2 tanks....will it harm my oil?

i have a 1991 accord with 180k and change oil with dino every 3k

thanks for the help and tips in advanced!

there...thats it.

sorrie for the late reply. thanks...

in a really dirty engine, Id imagine it would load the oil woith a bit more junk. But assuming your system is clean, Id be more worried about corrosion, etc., which I dont think is an issue with lucas.

I liek the lucas product in engines that spray the fuel on the backside of the valves (my 91 bmw 318i and my 98 s-10 ZR2 vortec 4.3). In my girlfriends integra, my fathers toyota previa and my mothers plymouth, I havent noticed anything. And Im the one who is careful about uysing top quality gas and keeping all systems clean as new... so I think that says something

Even Caltex (Texaco) tell you not to use Techron more than three times per oil change.

I'd guess that over0use of the hard working cleaners could be bad.

Dunno what the end result would be.

Terry maybe ?

On a similar note. Fuel injectors can be harmful to some injectors. Such as GMs Multiport injectors in the late 80s and early 90s.

Actually, the only warning I'm familiar with is related to the Chevron Techron products. It used to be recommended that you use it 2 weeks before an oil change to flush out any of the product which got past the rings and into the sump.

But this was years ago. I don't know if this is still the case.

Bror Jace,
just grabbed a bottle (empty).

quote:

Directions:
REgardless of tank size, empty total contentts into the fuel tank and fill tank with fuel. For maximum benefit, do not refuel until tank is at least 3/4 empty. Repeat doseage if problems return to an objectionable level, but not more than 5 treatments between oil changes.

Sorry, 5, not 3.

It could well be that many car manufacturers are pushing 15,000km oil chages, while the American market changes their oil (generally) more frequently.
