Well, visited my local Sam's Club like I have many times before for a rotation and balance. I don't buy my tires there but these lifetime services are only $30 per vehicle so it's a steal of a deal. Dropped off for an appointment, was told the standard 45 minutes or so. Dropped back by the counter about 35 minutes later, waited 10 minutes, then a tech came out to ask where I said I put the wheel lug key, despite the fact that when I dropped off the fob I told them where it was. So, they didn't even start yet at that point. I then told them to skip the balance and just rotate to save time. 15 minutes later it's done, and I am told my "tires are shot due to being overinflated". I run them at 2 psi over door sticker value, tread depth is at 10/32" on all 4, and the set is under 3 years old. I couldn't believe what I was hearing...just said "thank you" since at this point a simple rotation took me 75 minutes of waiting with an antsy 4 year old. I get in the car and it's dirty...like thin film of dirt everywhere dirty as it turns out they were blowing out the shop floor with the compressor and apparently they started that process with my vehicle still in the bay and a window down. Finally, I noticed their printout specified 100 ft/lbs. for the lugs, when factory spec is 80. They did have it scratched out in pen and had 80 written by hand, and I checked when I got home and they were torqued properly but it makes me scratch my head as to why the system would be off...make/model/trim/drive line were all entered correctly. So, after wiping down the interior I decided I'm done and next time I'll be paying for certs at Discount instead to cover rotations from here on out. End rant.

I always go to Discount Tire for tires and rotations. They always get me in and out quickly.
I took my other vehicle to Discount 2 weeks ago for a mount and balance and they had that done in half the time this rotation took. I'm well aware of Discount service.

Sam's club hosed me many many years ago. My parents bought me tire for my geo. I was told since they bought them and used their card they could link the tires to me no additional accounts needed. After needing a balance and rotation the Sam's club near me said that in the future I'd need to get my own club card or no future balances and rotations.

It's totally, absolutely, unbelievable you are still HOLDING THIS GRUDGE. You can't have somebody else's tires rotated. Which-in effect is what you were trying to do.
Please tell us AGAIN-how many years ago was this? I'm waiting....

The issue with discount tires, they are normally Packed with people, Ive never used someone like sams, walmart, or Costco.

The problem with life time stuff, right when you want to use it, the shop is backed up 2 or 3 days.

Hold on-I’m guessing they PAID for lifetime balance & rotation? Sorry, but if a huge corp. that makes more money than God can’t fulfill their paid for contract, I wouldn’t be very quick to forgive them either! Sure, fork out $70/year for a Sam’s membership so an already paid for deal will be honored-the Waltons need to buy ANOTHER NFL team, the Broncos aren’t enough!

I'm still waiting to hear from him how many years ago it was There wasn't a contract. He received erroneous information verbally. His parents paid for the tires. They were the parents tires-on his car. You can't rotate tires that belong to somebody else.
What so hard to understand here??

I rotate my own tires and haven't had the need to rebalance. The less I have to deal with people the better. Plus it's a good opportunity to inspect stuff.

If they paid for lifetime and there still on the car they were originally installed, then lifetime is not over. Whomever paid should be irrelevant. They were a gift.

Just like Sam's or Costco will sell you an extended warranty, but the warranty is no longer honored if your no longer a member.

Anyone supporting these membership clubs is a moron. Count me in the moron crowd, my wife insists on Costco. I only go when forced.

When I make an appointment, Discount tire has me out in 30 minutes or less for balance and rotation. Install takes about the same. Free air pressure check.

I have bought 6 or 7 sets of tires there, but they are so much nicer than our local Costco, where I bought the Michelins on the Tundra, that I bring the Tundra to Discount for rotations, which they do at no cost. I don’t care for the “upsell” of wiper blades or lug nuts, which happened last time, but it’s easy enough to decline.

I’ll buy my next set of tires there, as well.

Costco is competitive on price, and service (carefully finishing with a torque wrench), but the waiting room is non-existent, and it is much farther away. So, Discount Tire it is.

I am a discount tire fan also. I have had a couple issues - but they always fix it.

They will fix a flat for you for free irrelevant of where you got your tire - if its repairable. They will also check anyone's air for free, irrelevant of where purchased. If you buy your tires there rotations are free for lifetime of the tire, as is balance. There the only ones with a Hunter Machine here. That by itself is worth going for if you have ever encountered out of round tires. You don't need to buy the certs - which I do not.

I like Discount Tire too, but at least in my area they do NOT do wheel alignments. Anyone know if they now offer them? As a result have been going to Belle Tire. Got to know the service tech there. Have them set flat (no camber etc) and sit in car plus add heavy stuff inside car before I arrive to simulate two up weight distribution. Yes, it does make a difference!
