Frustrating Experience at Sam's

If they paid for lifetime and there still on the car they were originally installed, then lifetime is not over. Whomever paid should be irrelevant. They were a gift.

Just like Sam's or Costco will sell you an extended warranty, but the warranty is no longer honored if your no longer a member.

Anyone supporting these membership clubs is a moron. Count me in the moron crowd, my wife insists on Costco. I only go when forced.
Under that logic if you sold me a car with tires you bought at Sams Club I should be able to take the tires back for rotations. HM.....nope....doesn't work that way.

What does life time mean?

One time I bought life time tire repair at firestone , their life time was 4 years
Thats funny. These retailers suck.

Life time to me should be life of the tire - either worn out, or by age if the manufacturer specs something. Tire companies I have seen say anywhere from 6 to 10 years.

Discount tire will do a flat repair for free on any tire whether they sold it or not - assuming its repairable. If you buy your tires there its lifetime free rotation and balance, and I do believe that means life of the tire. There certificates are only good for I think 3 or 4 years - don't remember - I don't get them - but they don't call them lifetime at least.

I had a bad experiences at ‘discount tire’ last time around. I have custom wheels so I requested they not use an impact wrench. Unfortunately, the kid over did it by hand, and I had a hell-of-a-time changing a flat a few months later. I use to take the set to be balanced down to the shop separately. Unfortunately, my age/health no longer allows for that. 🤷‍♂️

I'm a DT fanboi. Bought many set of tires there. Always friendly. Never drama getting replacements with their certificates. Took Passat in a few days ago as the new Michelin PSAS4 needed balance...high speed vibration on highway. I always make an appointment online. They actually road forced one that was giving the tech issues. Vibration sorted. Nice waiting area.

I'm still waiting to hear from him how many years ago it was There wasn't a contract. He received erroneous information verbally. His parents paid for the tires. They were the parents tires-on his car. You can't rotate tires that belong to somebody else.
What so hard to understand here??
They rotate tires based on the card, parents go in with car and card and tires get rotated.

That said tire rotations free or otherwise are a ripoff, just do it at home. This service is like providing free tap water or free air to breathe.

Reads like a pretty poor Sam's experience. I have a Sam's membership, but for tires it's only DT for me. In my experience over many years, they've provided a consistently high level of service, during and after the sale. I do now recommend an appointment though.

Also don't need to buy the certs to get tire and balance, comes with purchase package. And unless something has very recently changed, you'll get a free rotation no matter where purchased. If lucky it 'might' include balance, but YMMV on that.
