Free lifetime oil change. FCP Euro.

They have screw-on caps. Or at least, every 300V can I've ever seen has had one.

This is going to be wordy because I don't have pics. But if you have a can in front of you as you read this so that you can follow along, it might make sense.

The cap basically has two D-rings on top. Flip them up and they become little handles. Pull up on them and you'll see the cap is actually screwed onto a spout that basically telescopes out of the can. Once you've pulled the spout all the way out, unscrew the cap. Beneath it, there should be a little seal with a ring you can use to pull it out, like in orange juice cartons or something. Pull that out and pour out your oil.

When you're done, screw the cap back onto the spout and press the spout back into the top of the can.

Two occasional downsides I've observed with this design:

1. The cap doesn't always screw on tightly enough before it jumps a thread, so it can be hard to get a good seal.
2. Occasionally, pulling the spout and pushing it back in repeatedly can cause the plastic to tear. At that point, it's doomed to leak. I'm sure it can be fixed somehow though.

#1 should be fixable if you just tape the cap down after it's screwed on and the spout is pushed back in.

#2 is very rare and easily avoidable (don't be rough with it).
Thank you very much..you are right indeed. I have just sent back my first party.

The replacement that arrived was a bit damaged though. They put a couple metal containers on a huge box, and the containers just kept hitting each other apparently. They protected them very well against any impact from outside, but inside the box? Free for all

I'm willing to bet they have long term contracts on their reused oil, along with probably tax breaks for it.
I visit FCP in Milford CT often. Safety-Kleen usually has a tank truck there transferring used oil from 275 gallon totes.

I believe this may not be state dependent, but in PA businesses that sell oil also accept used oil, and they usually have a giant tank that you pour your used oil. Im sure that rather than paying to dispose it, they would be making some money, albeit small, from selling to another party to be used for heating oil or something.

No doubt that used oil worths cents on the dollar though

Glad you got it sorted out!

Sorry to hear about the packing. I've noticed similar with some of my recent orders. I feel like they're slipping lately.

Altogether, I feel like FCP has been slipping.

I ordered an oil change kit and it was two weeks before I ended up calling and canceling the order. The kit was indicated as in-stock / available but the drain plug and filter were back ordered. Ended up going to autozone and began using Mobil 0w40 x4 in all three of my vehicles.

I have approximately $870 in store credit and the last three times I tried to use it I ran into issues with my order.

I posted this a few pages back. There's definitely a market for used oil. This is where it goes.

They have gone downhill in the packaging dept. recently.....
I must have been late to the party because mine always arrives in a box that has oil discoloration in the corners, looks like it's been shipped the long way around the world to me, and the receipt always shows the shipping dimensions to be way off (for the cheaper). So I always keep their box in the garage and send it back using the same dimensions in pirateship.

Yeah I have seen you posting this. There is definitely a market, but I am sure they are just making cents on the dollar. Like, if you return 5 quarts of oil, probably what they make out of it MAYBE covers the shipping fee of the replacement. Would be a surprise to me if used oil worths more than a dollar in bulk considering Costco sells a good oil for $3.5/quart and that covers not only the oil but also the packaging, logistics in addition to a profit margin. So I am sure they have a massive negative profit margin on oil with this program. But hey, they get an outstanding marketing benefit out of it. I don`t think there would be a single message on this forum if it was not for this return program

No issues here

You have credit order now and put it on the shelf

I'm on the west coast...even with their AZ warehouse, many orders ship from their CT warehouse anyway, so I always plan in advance for maintanence items...as it is 11 to 12 days delivery time. I get a surprise if it actually ships from AZ...then its about 7 to 8 days.

Really? That's reputedly right out of the ECS playbook.

I guess I've been lucky and not had any unexpectedly problematic orders with either one, but if FCP is slipping, that is disappointing to hear.

The best and most consistent packing jobs I've had come from online storefront orders fulfilled by SSF.

I'm drafting an order now, and though FCP's prices have always been slightly higher, that was offset by their level of customer service.

I actually never had issues with FCP or ECS.

No issues for me.

I feel like customer service is still doing a good job, the operations is having troubles. I contacted them regarding the damaged containers, and they sent replacements for the containers that leaked (2 out of 3).

But the new shipment came in exact the same box, packged the same way. This time the containers did not look like they just survived WW2, but still visually not appealing at all
