I went over to visit my grandpa today and left my car running with the a/c on for over 1/2 an hour so it stayed nice and cool.

The folly of youth. lol!

Interesting thread. Here in "the Ill", I wouldn't even consider things to be much abnormal. Perhaps even a little cooler than I'd expect "summer" to be. Sure, there have been warm days, but nothing oppressive. It's summer. I expect it to be warm. Our impressions of 2018 summer must be localized.

Agree and I'm sorta' nearby!
Here in Lower Michigan, it seems to have averaged 90 degrees for a month now. B-U-T it's more comfortable this summer, due to lowered humidity. My dehumidifier has hardly run at-all this summer. I'll bet we have averaged the lowest humidity levels of the past two decades, here around the Metro Detroit Region.

90 is still hot, but I'm hardly sweating this summer....... so far...... fingers crossed it stays that way.

Ditto. I hate if I work up a sweat walking. I get apoplectic if I drip sweat onto my glasses. I usually wear a hat, but once that gets soaked, I tend to have had enough.

Thankfully summer in the north is only a month or two long.

After spending over 8 years in Mississippi, I can tolerate the heat pretty well. I work 2nd shift maintenance at a manufacturing plant and that time of day it can really be hot (around 2-8pm) but once the sun starts setting it is pretty decent and by the time I leave at 11pm its cooled off. The shop has pretty good airflow, as does the other buildings. Electricians have been installing a lot of new fans around the plant.

I personally hate the cold and snow, but it's something we gotta deal with around here. I'll take the heat anytime. During snowstorms we have to be on snow removal duty, that's gonna be interesting.

Working in this heat + a few beers = a good nights sleep. I've been in the A/C for the last 15 years and I honestly don't know how I did it all those years laying brick/block. Lots of water and salt tabs to keep from cramping up.

Oh, I almost forgot, take care of the missus in the morning before work!!!

My wife and I just got back from some vacation time at our trailer. It has been wicked hot and dry there too. Most days we lived on the water swimming just to stay cool.
Our trailer faces the west directly so we get our share of wind, usually, throughout the summer but these past 2 weeks hardly a breeze was felt.
Our lake consistently was like glass and reached temps anywhere from 79 to 82 degrees f!

We came home Tuesday evening as it was time and with a fire ban now in place, it made our decision that much easier. One of the hottests, driest, calm summers I can remember in a while.

It was 92 yesterday with about 40% humidity.. Not bad at all.

It's 97% currently. Today will be interesting.

My wife and I both love being near a large body of water, so Arizona wouldn't be for us, southwest Florida is where we love to be.

Southern Ontario usually has very nice weather from about May until October, and in 4 years we'll be spending 3-4 months every winter in Florida, so we'll get to experience the weather we like for the majority of the year.

AzJeff,

You do realize he's just saying that so he can have an excuse to drive the 'vette to FL and back....:-P

Patman, would you take a detour trough the Smokies to "open it up" a bit? (if it worked on my yaris, it will do on your 'vette...)

The drive to and from Florida in the Corvette is going to be a lot of fun!

One of the things we plan on doing is taking the long way home and exploring different places in the US that we haven't been to yet, so there will definitely be a detour that takes us up that way at some point.

Between filling that water bottle up and emptying yourself as frequently, how do you get any work done?

You don't urinate anymore often, you sweat it out in the kind of heat we are talking about. I bought a water cooler and go through 2 5gallon bottles a week and drink just as much water at home.

Exactly. I drink some Powerade while cutting grass but i also drink 3-4+ gallons of water a day

Be careful with excess water consumption. In rare cases it can be lethal.

In rare cases, drinking an extreme amount in a short time can be dangerous. It can cause the level of salt, or sodium, in your blood to drop too low. That's a condition called hyponatremia. It's very serious, and can be fatal. You may hear it called water intoxication.Aug 14, 2014

Yea I was wondering about that.

When I was 18 I worked as a driller helper in a quarry where the sun reflected off the walls and I worked right nest to a hot diesel. I drank 2 gallons in a 14 hour day. I believe what you are saying

Minus 11 Celsius? You can keep that!! We haven't even hit zero overnight yet, and I hope it stays that way. These guys complaining about the heat make me laugh!

Farking ridiculous...we got a call from the neighbour at our old place to tell us he was turning the water off as water was flowing in the bathroom...something popped...we were down in Sydney, so will see what surprises tomorrow brings when we can get over there.

No water here until I applied judicious heat to a few outside pipes...which now have a covering of split garden hose in preparation for tonight.
