This Fram XG11655 had three oil changes on it, probably close to 16k on it. Still had waves even after only snugging up the filter cap. Looked fine otherwise, no issues found with pleats.
Durango; I think I used VME, Mobil 1, then mix of Amsoil/QSUD I had someone gave me.Looks good what vehicle was this in and what oil did you use for each OCI?
This filter doesn't need to be cut open. It's a cartridge type filter, synthetic media and a plastic mesh behind it and rated for 15k miles.Looks mean little.
Either the filter is working or its not working. With that many miles, what makes you think it wasn't sitting in bypass a majority of the time?
If no physical damage, filter held together. That is about all you can get from cutting open a filter.
I don't understand the competition here to see who can use a filter the longest. Lets trash the engine to save the incinerator from a couple filters?
Right the guys in marketing want you to use a filter 3 times longer so they sell less of them.Semantics, cut open canister, cartridge.... filter inspections mean little unless there is a filter hard part failure. Other than that, it sure looks pretty.
Ratings of a filter are marketing. UP TO 15k depends on engine soot/crud loading. It would have to be tested ON EVERY ENGINE to blindly be used for the full 15k miles. Only fools and suckers believe in marketing and they are being born by the second these days.

And that’s why they are a totally different design using better materials …
It’s 9000 miles on two of them … and not running the oil that long so two rounds on a Fram XG is 10kAnd the same guys state this concerning the Fram Ultra:
Follow recommended change intervals as outlined in your owner’s manual.
That could potentially be 15K+ miles on certain vehicles that say change the filter every other OC. It's a CYA statement to, and all filter makers use a similar legal statement. And the same guys state this concerning the Fram Ultra:
