Good Afternoon BITOGERS. This Fram ultra was on my 09’ Camry LE with the 2AZ-FE engine for 27,000 miles. Various oils used over 4K OCI’s also. Doesn’t look too bad. Enjoy the photos. Put some Castrol EDGE 0w40 in today along with a FRAM 4967 from the 1990’s that I got cheap on the car.

Looks good, you got your money's worth out of that filter! Thanks for the C&P.
Yeah, I would say so. So I didn’t see any carbon flakes or gunk in pleats. Very hard to remove wire mesh from filter pleats. Just real dark but no carbon. Maybe after a 500-1000 run with the 1990’s Fram tough guard I’ll see some carbon and gunk

I gotta say you are a brave soul for running a passenger car oil filter that long, IMO. I am not a Fram fan (long story) but the filter does look better than I expected for 27K miles!

just my $0.02
Well, I ran a FRAM TOUGH GUARD for 20k before. It’s one of the older wire backed ULTRA’s so I’m not worried. Even this 90’s era Tough Guard should do 10k.

Way WIX is going to China, cheapening their filters; I won’t touch them for a real long time. Have few cases of Baldwin filters that actually were cheaper than WIX. that’s my 2cents 🇺🇸🇨🇦🍺👍

I bet the silicone ADBV was still soft even after 27K miles

Date code is strange for Fram (date field is over 365). How old is that filter I wonder, maybe before the current date code format - ?. Says "Allied Signal" on it, so must be pretty old.

When I asked Fram tech or online help they didn’t even know so….

How long did it take you to drive 27k miles? I change my civics at the two year mark regardless of mileage.

I could see a few tiny carbon flakes in pleats of the Tough Guard cartridge I ran nearly as far. Otherwise, it looked new. No visible "gunk" or other sorts of particles. No structural issues. Very boring.

Well, last Sunday when I did plugs and valve cover gasket, I had read up on how powerful KREEN is. So I was hoping it may have busted some carbon and junk up. Maybe my 2AZ-FE is t as dirty as I thought

How did it look under the valve cover? If it was clean, then the whole engine is clean. The valve train and under the valve cover are where most crud will collect as an engine starts building up crud.
