I had my oil changed last week at Costco, in Toronto.
Castrol Edge Synthetic oil. $60 Canadian.
I brought my own filter, because Costco doesn't carry a filter for my car.
And they don't give any discount for the customer bringing their own filter.
Bad on you, Mr. Costco.
I used a WIX 57674 cartridge filter this time. I bought some Wix filters off Amazon; sold and shipped by Amazon Canada.
The Wix filter seems fine. It's made in Poland.
My car is a 2016 Chevrolet Sonic hatch. With the 1.4l turbo. 50k kilometers (31k miles) on it. City driving mostly.

The previous filter that I was using is a Fram Tough Guard TG10246. Cartridge. Made in China.
My previous oil change was Castrol Edge Synthetic oil at Costco.
Here are pictures of my old Fram filter, saved from my recent oil change.
The filter looks fine to me. The filter has 10k kilometers (6200 miles) on it.
The Fram filter is 3.5 inches long. 2 1/8 inches diameter.
Driven from October 2018 to July 2019. Oil Life Monitor at 2%.

That looks fine. I'm currently using a Chinese Tough Guard cartridge too, and hope it fares as well.

Can you see any captured particles?

The Fram Ultra filter XG10246, for my Chevy Sonic, interests me. But that particular model seems to be a rarity, locally and on the internet. So I'll stick to Fram Tough Guard or Wix, or similar.

It is still a fairly new part number just making its way to stores. It should be easier to find the next time you change your oil
