I've used them for years. No problems and the 'grippy' surface is greatly helpfull.
There is a cabal of anti Fram folks here, but Fram sells millions of filters a year with few, if any, problems.
Often on sale too.
On the old beater, I use Advance Auto filters (oversize).

Beater or not, I'd use a Purolator made Advance Auto Parts oil filter (that actually has a better grippy surface than the 'F' brand) than to use any flavor of anything that Fr*m sells.

use TG on the 95 Corvette-no problems will continue to do so

That must be a sale price. I can get Wix, Napa Golds, Purolator Pure Ones and Bosch Premiums for $5 sometimes too. All are BITOG-preferred more than Fram TG.
