2023 GMC 1500 Denali ultimate 6.2L 20k miles
in service 5500 miles
grandfather’s truck that i convinced to change over to 5w-30 after he heard some of the fleet trucks (1500 5.3’s) and the difference in valvetrain chatter

out/off: 8 quarts Mobil 1 EP 0w-20 and Fram Titanium FS10575

in/on: 8 quarts HPL PCEO 5w-30 with Fram Endurance FE10575

filter is wavy but no tears. much happier now that it has an Endurance in its place. i chose to go straight to HPL as i have done all maintenance on this truck with Mobil 1 EP 0w-20 changed at 6k miles since new. dropped factory fill at roughly 1500 miles as i do with any new vehicle. i figured engine is clean enough to go straight to HPL PCEO.

How long do you plan on running this HPL Oil? Are you going to do a UOA at 5000 miles or maybe take this oil out to 10,000 miles?

It did alright but the endurance spun back on is much better. I'd use it and the hpl for two olm oci's which will probably be about 6-7k each and not worry. Thanks for the cut and post.

under warranty so it will get dumped at OLM.

Rear cut and post, Thank You sir

it had 30% remaining at 5500 miles
It will be interesting to see what the OLM says with HPL, but it might be the same as the other oil that was used. Here is what would be interesting, when you change the oil via the OLM, get a UOA to see how this oil is doing. I have a hunch, well I need to prove it, but I feel that the HPL PCEO can probably go double the miles of the oil that I am using which is Mobil 1 ESP.

this truck will not be getting UOA’s done. a few of the work trucks at 12k miles will be having UOA’s done.

It’s a “20k” mile filter that looks like a 5k ish mile filter run it’s limit.

I can’t be sure how well a filter did its job when the pleats were clearly flapping around like a bunch of kites in a wind storm ?. Honestly, how does that effect the media’s ability to retain everything it’s caught?
wavy media doesn’t affect anything about filtering. the reason i moved away however is the possibility of tearing in which i did have one tear. the waviness alone will not affect filtering performance.

And you know this how? ….You don’t, Just leave that at that.
At least you “got away from them”. Good 4 you.

the media could be a flat wall and capture the same amount of particulate. the media is only shaped the way it is to fit more media in the canister itself.
