Fram or Valvoline

It wasn't my oil. I'm still running the same Valvoine in 5w30. Still have enough for this Fall's OC also. I'll be installing a K&N premium for the cold winter run.

Expecting quiet startups from now-on. Really impressed with the basic nitrile Premium Guard I have on there now. ($1.67 I paid and it's twice as heavy as my former Fram Ultra. No change with the dipstick color or level yet either.

I do believe my Chevy Colorado 3.5 engine is sensitive to filter models / types. It rattled for multiple OCIs when I had a batch of OEM (ADBV absent) classic AC Delco 61s.

After the K&N, I may try Purolator again. Been a handful of years since I last used that brand.

I just got a case of Fram Ultras from FRAM, pro bono, based on a complaint I had, the details of which I will keep secret so no one else can take advantage of it for future reference. and that's whats going in, looking for performance gains that upstage all the noise business plus we don't know if it is the oil or the filter that eliminated the warm start rattle or "grind".


That's not how you use the phrase pro bono.

So then I wanted to trumpet the Fram Tough Guard cuz it also has that silicone ADBV. Not the cheapest one in this no metal endcaps range, so I would maybe go a house brand for someone and by someone I mean a parts company like AAP, AZ or ORLY but not unlllike Carquest or Napa.
