My local Walmart in Kansas. I’ve stopped by the filter section weekly and this is new. Still nothing to backfill it yet, and most of the part numbers are the uncommon stragglers.

Agreed - I’d rather just pay the $5 for PG EX. But, I’m glad to see some action finally in the filter section.

This is in Wichita.
Gotcha. I'm up in topeka and been to 2 Walmarts in the last couple days and no clearance. :'(

^^^ Never noticed the FRAM Diesel filters before.
Never seen those or the marine filters before. I suspect the marine filters were in a different set of shelves though, like motorcycle filters usually are.
If I'm spending my money, knowing the ruffled bypass valves, poor glue, closed louvers, I'll spend that somewhere else.
What's funny is how many people install/use filters with "defects" and never know they had them.... I find it funny to cut filters open after they've been used !

We are the only group who probably looks inside for louver or other defects if we can.

If we cut them open prior they may leak just a little bit when I install them after cutting even if I use FlexSeal on them.

I'll never forget here years ago, someone talked about blowing air through the filters, unboxed, while standing in the aisle in the store--before the guy bought them. Folks like that would be the Navy Seals of BITOG.

Or tell someone buying one brand that it only filters XX% at YY microns vs what another brand does .... or "they use cardboard end caps instead of metal" .... and so on ! 🤣

Yes I got 5x fram force filters for about 1$ each(from AAP).. they have the giant louver-less stripe around the center tube.... ugh.
supposely normal.. but the louvers dont look great either.

luckily the 2 fram titaniums have holes.. and 3 of the 4 ultras had ok Louvers.

one also had metal stuck in the threads.

Still debating if I want to run the 6 with the blank metal strip on the centertube. and I already rejected a few to the trash can I didnt like even more.

Should have looked harder but $1 clearance was grab and go

Fortunately I have 4 more oil filters before I need to make a decision.
