I found more “NOS” Fram Ultras with wire backing the Walmart in Cranbrook. Enjoy.
My chevy 1500 uses the 3980.The 3980 is the taller version of the 3387a, I don't think it's the filter specified by the book for anything newer than about 2004, I guess in canada most of the vehicles that use that filter probably rusted out by now, I'm a little more surprised that the 6607 hasn't had higher turnover, it's a standard filter for tons of Asian vehicles and motorcycles, but I guess maybe people buying $15 oil filters know to buy the longer 7317, and the 2870A, I'm a little surprised to see in a box that new, I see lots of older ones around, I guess it's not super popular being a spin on for older VWs,
I got a chance to eyeball a few at my local Walmart and the boxes were not sealed. The louvers look very iffy to me so I’m going to pass. If they would have had louvers like the last Ultra had that I cut open, I would have bit.
If it’s the XG2’s, they don’t seem to have changed those to the new non- screen version.Yeah I saw one yesterday myself.
The louvers remind me of the Mopar SRT filter (for Viper, etc). I also had a Royal Purple 20-820 that had the louvers (which was odd because the other 3 I bought had the standard round holed center tubes)
Oddly enough I think I stumbled on some OG Ultras in the size I need, so I bought a few. There might be more, Ill go back later (and try another Walmart while Im at it)
What are the production dates?Yeah, all the xg2s at my Walmart are still wire backed.
That might make sense...I hit up another Walmart today and checked 3 of the 5 they had there...all look wire backed so either Im "reading" them wrong, they are all old stock, or they indeed did not change it.If it’s the XG2’s, they don’t seem to have changed those to the new non- screen version.
All new stock, early '23What are the production dates?
I was going to check the XG2, XG16, XG5, and XG8As, at my store but all of them had a glued bottom on the box and I wasn't going to break the seal. All new stock, early '23
At my Wal mart this morning; none of them had clear plastic seal. Dunno if that’s good or bad. Didn’t see evidence of it being ripped off eitherI don’t buy one without breaking the seal and if I do and I don’t like how it looks I leave it.
Well I bought two endurance 3614’s. No clear tape on any filter boxes. I’ll cut one open sometime. If I remember right, the Fram's at Walmart had the top flap clear plastic round sticker sealed, but you had full access to the bottom "ear flap/slit" style bottom with no sticker. 100% access to the filter to do a Switch O -Change O. Either you sticker seal both sides or why bother.
