Fram Endurance - synthetic and wire backed

I had to buy one (cartridge version) for Lexus. I have fram ultra too (newer version). Side by side compare and ultra looks better. Even if cost the same, I would still pick ultra.
Yeah honestly I was thinking the same...the Ultra side by side does look maybe a little bit better. But I’ll try this new filter anyway, it’s only $2 more. And it does look impressive in its own right.

One thing with cartridge filter, the endurance does have less filtration surface area. It has end caps that cover more filtration media vs ultra.

I didn’t think that would matter? Don’t the pleats go up and under those end caps?

You probably right, just visually looks like the media surface is smaller.
I looked at them again, and I dont think I will be buying another endurance cartridge version, and its not about saving money

Well, on second thought maybe I won’t be buying one. Looks like the adhesive on the end caps dripped down the filter media. Looked at 5 different filters, they all had this in one way or another. Think I’ll stick with the ultra.

Do they even use adhesive on those in my experience with the Ultra which is limited to the XG9018 the end caps are molded around the media.

I looked where the stuff was coming from and it does look like some sort of cement/glue/adhesive that binds the pleats to the end caps. It looks like it dripped out during the manufacturing process. I’m not saying it’ll change the entire performance/function of the filter, but I expect more from the top of Fram‘s line. Whereas I opened an Ultra filter and there was no dripping onto the pleats from the end cap area.

I think Fram has discontinued the 4386 size along with the 3593A size recently, at first it was just at Walmart but I've noticed now that other retailers have gotten rid of the 3593A
The 4386 has disappeared at all the local stores in my area, so I contacted FRAM support and they told me it hadn't been discontinued. Sure enough, I see it's available online at walmart and amazon but at an inflated price (14.99), it used to be about $9.

@dnewton3 removed it the last time it was posted (and I see it has now been posted twice more) due to it violating board rules.
Apologies, since the video was released just a few days ago and I didn't see any mention here, assumed no one had noticed yet. Thought people might object to the test methodology, didn't know it violated board rules.

What about it violated board rules?

The main problems I find are the lack of explanation of positive oil pressure displacement pumps making restriction a non issue, misinformation on the gap on EG being an issue, and I am not sure how this compares to ISO tests.

That's literally everything now.

Probably something to do with those kinds of posts always getting locked.
Say brand F does way better than people expect or beats brand w and some people can't handle it.
I just like to watch and say toy self "oh my, what fascinating behavior".

It's very clear that something is very broken in their testing procedure, their Purolator Boss results are so far off of what the Manufacturer claims and what Ascent has previously found that there's no way any of their results can be trusted.

Watching how far two horses can piss up a rope doesn't tell you how fast they can run, which is along the lines of the typical reason why Project Farm and other jerry rigged "garage tests" are removed. It's no grand conspiracy about stifling knowledge, it's about preventing folks from being mislead.

In the case of the video in question, I believe Dave said it was due to language used in the video.
