What about the PentiusUFXL, don’t trust? Made in Korea. Hopefully South.
They look very PG made to me. All the c&p’s look great. I was going to buy a case until I found the Carquest Premium sale for $4 and some change each. What about the PentiusUFXL, don’t trust? Made in Korea. Hopefully South.
UOA w/the leaky, but non-ruffled filter shown above. They need to bring back the fiber ring.
Below is a Fram Endurance with a non-rippled leaf spring…but, it still leaks. Just took this off of my accord after an 8,200mi OCI.

A UOA without a PC isn't going to show any oil filtering performance. And one PC with nothing but the ISO code isn't going to give any side by side comparison of different filters on the same engine. But one PC would be better than nothing.UOA w/the leaky, but non-ruffled filter shown above.

Understood, just providing what I can.A UOA without a PC isn't going to show any oil filtering performance. And one PC with nothing but the ISO code isn't going to give any side by side comparison of different filters on the same engine. But one PC would be better than nothing.
BummerUnderstood, just providing what I can.
I contacted Horizon and they said they don’t do particle count testing on used oil because the fluid is too dark to see the particles in the sample.
I'm now going with either the Carquest Premium (sold at Carquest or Advance Auto Parts stores) or Microgard Select (sold at O'Reilly's), preferably the ones made in Vietnam instead of China. I gave up on Motorcrafts too due to sloppy glue that comes loose in service.
Lots of discussion and cut open photos of the CQP and MGS filters in this forum. No leaf spring (coil spring instead), and the bypass valve is not metal to metal. Quality construction, and both the base gasket and ADBV are silicone. Cost is typically $8 - $10.
I don't know much about those brands in the cartridge form. Not even sure there have been any posted here from what I recall. Might be worth dropping in the store and take a look at them to see what you think.Do you recommend the CQP and MGS in cartridge filters too, or something else?
Maybe we should all start asking about it and they will pass along that the design downgrades are apparent and customers are switching brands. I will email too.I contacted Fram a couple times, but no response yet. Been about 2 weeks, so not expecting much.

I have had a 4967 on my wife’s Camry for the last 2 oil changes. I now feel compelled to cut it open at this upcoming oil change.I’d wager the FE8A, FE3387A, and FE4967 iso test subjects were not leakers. But can’t say 100%. Anyone have a sacrificial lamb?

Indeed - if the wavy metal ends before the radius - it can still seat there - many of the end caps have a raised radius …But, it's most likely still "filtering more oil than it isn't." /sImo, not what one should expect to see/find in any filter, but even more so in a premium one costing ~$13. The fit and finish of the bypass seal area just doesn't get it done.
Thanks for the effort and good work.
Ultra has the same problem unless you can find an OG.Might i be safer to stay with my fram ultra 7317 or go back to Menards and buy Purolator 1 / Boss?
