I’m afraid soAppears that the entire Fram line is not recommended, unless you need a cartridge filter.

Unfortunately we’re finding leaks in all Frams now. I don’t recommend any.So , if buying a Fram oil filter from WM - is to skip the Endurance and use the Ultra ?
If you a going to buy Fram, just buy the orange can Extra Guard, the high end Endurance and Ultra have more of the problems with leaks. So , if buying a Fram oil filter from WM - is to skip the Endurance and use the Ultra ?
Totally unacceptable!Tested on a new Fram Endurance FE7317 purchased at Walmart.
The question was “Does the Fram Endrance still have a gap in the bypass spring while under pressure?”
The answer is yes on this one. Also has a gap outside of the canister as Whip City and Sayjac have already found. I also carefully put some drops of oil on the gap areas to check every 10 minutes. It only took seconds for the oil to leak through with gravity.

Personally I'd go with the Super Tech ST filter with synthetic end caps if buying at WM. I haven't seen a flashlight test to see if they leak yet though. I know WCW showed the metal end cap version did leak. Microguard from O'Reilly or STP XL from AutoZone are both good quality but a bit more expensive. So , if buying a Fram oil filter from WM - is to skip the Endurance and use the Ultra ?
Pentius PLXL from Amazon is my new go to.Personally I'd go with the Super Tech ST filter with synthetic end caps if buying at WM. I haven't seen a flashlight test to see if they leak yet though. Nice filters, I've picked up a few Ecogards on there. They're pretty good value at about 6 and a half bucks each.Pentius PLXL from Amazon is my new go to.
I’m liking any Premium Guard made filters currently. Also the Pentius filters look great. So who's making the best filters these days? My stash of the good ole' Ultras when they were the best of the bunch here is running low.
I'll check them out once my stash is gone, thanks!!Premium Guard
Here are a few of the PG made filters.I'll check them out once my stash is gone, thanks!!
It's a darn shame when something is good the company making it doesn't leave well enough alone! It all comes down to profits, 99.9% of the time no matter who, no matter what! I gave up on Purolator years ago for that reason, looks like Fram might be next! Here are a few of the PG made filters.

It’s unfortunate. I went through the same thing with Wix after over 20 years of loyal use. It's a darn shame when something is good the company making it doesn't leave well enough alone! Think a few have been done, but don't recall which thread they are posted in. Here's a thread of a C&P of an OG Ultra - but no light leak test done. You can see the impression of the leaf spring seat in the fiber seal on the end cap. Also note how smooth the leaf spring stamping is ... that was back when people knew how to make things right.Has anyone done the flashlight test on the original Fram Ultra to see if the gasket prevented light from escaping?
I tested an OG Titanium without the gasket and it passed.Has anyone done the flashlight test on the original Fram Ultra to see if the gasket prevented light from escaping?
