Fram Endurance Flashlight Test in canister

Ultra has the same problem unless you can find an OG.

I disagree, I went back to Ultra, cut open an XG10575 after 2500 Motorhome highway miles to find no wavy pleats & no light leakage through the leaf spring mount.

I have read all the “cheapening” comments on this filter, even though Fram has posted better filtration numbers for this media. The only “fear” of using this filter is media tearing. I’m not one to run 20k on a filter, hell, I rarely let it get past 4K, so I ran this with the intent of opening it. I ran it with Amsoil Euro 0w-30 (3.5 HTHS).

My leakage pics are in that very thread. My Ultra was made on day 142 of 2024. See pics below. Others have been posting the same results with Ultras(link to one below). What was the build date on yours? We’ve found the older the Ultra the better chance of finding a non leaker.

Can’t say without iso testing unfortunately. Some don’t mind the leakage. I’m not comfortable with it, especially for the price.
It’s hard to unlike things sometimes, especially when it was very well liked. I had loyalty with oil filters, not wanting to see the defects, but now do, so it’s not a criticism of others. I’m amazed I said loyalty to oil filters. I see the leak as a defect, regardless of exactly how much.

I agree 100%.

Has anyone done these tests on a non metal end cap filter? Perhaps an EG, TG, or Super Tech ST would seal a little better but I haven't seen anything that would verify that.

I have a Fram TG3614 that I bought earlier this year that I could C&P if anyone would be interested in that model. I intended to use it next spring for my riders oil change but I picked up a bunch of Carquest Premium’s on sale so it’s not explicitly needed.
Yes please!

Is this (left spring leak to endplate) also an issue with the old stock beloved Fram XG’s that were wire backed a few years ago and prior?
