First time doing one of these on BITOG so I'm open to any criticisms or feedback.

I only ran this filter for about an hour on a Kohler 38RCL 38kW natural gas standby generator with HPL Premium Plus PCMO 0W-30. I didn’t trust it after all the bypass leak reports on here and wanted to do a double change with HPL anyway, so I swapped it out for a Premium Guard Extended Life PG111EX when I did the second oil change. I will keep the PG and HPL in there for a year.

I don't know if I did the flashlight test right, but it appears to have failed. I cut a slit in the dome with a dremel tool, drained all the old oil out and sprayed some brake cleaner in, let it all drain for half an hour then stuck keychain flaslight into the oil exit hole.

I have more pictures if there is anything missed that should be added.

Before teardown.

Looks like about 56 square inches of media area (1.75" x 32"), wire backed.

Nicely done FE c&p with in-can 'flashlight test' included. Bypass piece surface looks decent, much better than many. That said, some surface area cut off on opposite sides. ' Perhaps' combined with the nubs used to hold piece in place and I think why the leak exposed. Everything else looks fine. Too bad about the seal area.

I'd add, I think the louvers are fine/ok. That said, I've seen anecdotes of other brands with similar, quickly questioned to criticized.

Thanks for c&p.
