…at least for the 6607 and 7317 versions. I think this may be a better style; maybe the bypass won’t leak anymore

My latest (two weeks ago) FE4967 looks nothing like the OP’s; instead, it has the ten holes as shown in Glenda W’s post #6, except the center tube on mine is raised.

What’s real funny is AC DELCO filters look just like that baseplate wise. 🤔🤔
Champ Labs makes the FE for Fram ... so probably using those same base plates on the FE now for some reason. Maybe a temporary supply chain thing since others above said they've seen this base plate used before.

I prefer the baseplate design on the topic 7317/6607 OFs. It is and has been the majority type design on other larger Fram filters. Otoh, does that mean 'I' think the internal Champ Labs leaky bypass piece seal area has been addressed/fixed? I doubt it. Not a leap I'd take.

Edit. The Champ Labs made Super Tech MP 7317 I c&p * also use the same baseplate as topic FE. It showed light, leaky bypass seal area.

Oh wow! Major production change.......
IDK, FB has been willy nilly with changes to "Fram" oil filters, some using Champ Labs construction. Some orange cans have been seen here with Champ Labs metal endcap filter construction. Others seen with traditional fiber caps. I think @ZeeOSix on to something here, could be a temporary change, or not. Further, equivalent RP have been using ecore on some applications for a while now. Seal area bypass piece design the same though. The last is the most important point 'for me'.

Thanks for the correct terminology….!

Looking at the OP’s original pictures, one of use has an older filter based on the number of holes and what appears to be a “collar” around the raised base plate threaded mounting hole.

And apparently mine is the older version……..!

Would BITOGers still use it?
