Will you be spreading the oil filter media out to see how much junk or carbon is in the Media? Thanks for cutting the oil filter open!

Yes i will but i also had to do cvt fluid change and then i just ran out of time. I don't think we will find anything, i get oil analysis also and wear metal always very low. I will cut it up sometime in next day or two. I keep my cut up filters in zip locks.

I agree, but this Oil Filter from FRAM has been talked about quite a bit on this Forum and your oil filter does not have any wavy pleats!
It's wire backed, so won't have any pleat distortions. The Ultra when it lost the wire backed media showed waving pleats in some cases.

Leaf Spring Issue that has been talked about on this Forum?
On the leaf Spring issue in what we have seen on here, and I believe this is on brand new Oil Filters that have never been used? Some have done the light test, does this matter in real world applications, can we prove that this is an issue?

A ruffled and warped leaf spring has nothing to do with distorted pleats. Yes, the Champion Labs made filter with a leaf spring are the main culprits and it's from the factory like that of course.

The main culprits of what? What is this fascination with Leaf Springs on this Forum?
The oil filters made by Champion Labs are the main culprits of ruffled, warp and leaky leaf springs. They make many that have a leaf spring to hold the guts tight instead of a steel coil spring. The leaf spring in the filter in post 1 even has some slight ruffles on the leaf spring. Leaf springs use to be made perfectly smooth before the Ruffles factory got involved, lol.

'What I can see' looks fine. The question 'for me' with these Champ Labs made filters, would it pass a flashlight test. Based on many flashlight tested post use anecdotes with similar looking bypass piece seal area, 'my speculation' probably not.

Thanks for c&p.

In this design, the face of the leaf spring needs to form a seal with the cylindrical media element housing. If the spring isn't flat, oil from the "dirty" side will be able to flow into the "clean" side without going through the media.
