Canadian Tire used to sell re-badged TG's as Motomaster 'Formula 1' filters, a step above their basic ones. I found the 'last' one of these in my car's size a couple of years ago for only $1.25, and I have it on my car now. Doesn't look like too bad of a filter...
Now, at CT, if you want to go above a Fram, you have to get a Quaker State filter for $6.99....but it's still a better deal than Fram TG's, which you can now get at Walmart for $7.80-ish...

The photo showing the inlet holes exposed under/beside the ADBV illustrate what I consider a significant drawback to most of the Fram oil filters. The flimsy cardboard tips of the filter media element are the only thing centering the ADBV at the inlet end. If the cardboard tips are bent, the media element and ADBV can end up crooked in the can and the ADBV will leak (the inlet holes won't be fully covered, as shown in the photo).
The above is true with all the Fram oil filters except for the Extended Guard and Synthetic (Canada). On those filters the media endcap are steel and the tips won't easily bend or fold.
Ecore filters like some of the SuperTechs have an endcap/ADBV design that is similar, but somewhat better than, the cheaper Frams. IMHO, if you want to save money by using low cost oil filters, a Purolator or Motorcraft is much preferred over a cheap Fram or Ecore Supertech.

I didn't know AAP carried the Motorcrafts, I've honestly only looked for AAP TG, PP+ and Pure One there. No objection to getting the Motorcraft there. Still have some $$$ left from an AAP Christmas gift card. That's after picking up 3 Total Grips.
