Is there any evidence the FP actually has a better or synergistic effect with 10-20% ethanol gas?

Long story, way shortened: I never run ethanol gas, just because the credit card brands (Chevron, 76, Shell) I frequent don't sell it in this area (really no other reason).

I went to an Arco station on Tues because there was a cute girl filling up there, and the prices were very low. I had just dosed the turbo beast real good with FP the night before. I filled up with their premium (92) - HOLY MOSES ALL OVER AGAIN. The car loves this stuff, power, turbo pingwise, etc. I never got this much reaction with FP and other premiums, even though I could detect a difference.

Maybe it's just the ARCO alone....complete uncontrolled and unscientific, but my butt likes it.

Funny you should mention this. I have been using FP with whatever cheap gas I could find. One day two weeks ago, I just happened to get a tankful of Sunoco. Sunoco advertises "contains ethanol" on there pumps.

It sure seemed to me that the car ran better (Throttle response, power, etc) than it had been running on the usual Sheetz and Hess gasoline w/ FP. In all cases I was treating at 1 oz to 5 gallons, and the weather has been pretty much the same. Sunoco was the only variable.

I chalked it up to placebo effect. I didn't dare post this observation here, because I figured I was being crazy, and I would be laughed off the board! lol

Interesting that you had the same observations.

Seems more than a placebo effect - I mean my 85 turbo is Bosch K-jet injection with NO knock sensor so I can/must tell when under extreme boost the ping starts. With straight regular it happens like REAL soon. With straight premium and the correct weather, etc it rarely goes into ping...but I can real the power output difference with some fuels (hey I'm not making this up!)

When I add FP it always helps, it's just with the Arco and FP - wow! But what I don't know is if it's the Arco or the combo!

FP seems like an interesting additive. Not super solvent like most cheapie fuels adds. Maybe it has some compound it makes with the -OH in EtOh....

My recommendations to use FP with the cheapest gas you can find is not a joke.

Terry,
I just finished a tankfull of 89 octane (from the base pump) and 4oz of FP.....it knocked heavily at times when taking off. I don't know if it's timing or too hot spark plugs, but my car runs best on Chevron 93....with FP.

I wonder if one range colder on the plugs would make a difference?

Terry - I know it's not a joke, but I get/see benefit when I add FP to regular gas so far.

You seem to have missed my point.

UNLESS you are hinting the cheapest gas always has ethanol.......

As I stated in my post, I have been using Chevron (about 90% of my fill ups), Shell, and 76 a few times. If I use their regular I really can't boost much or it pings like crazy. FP has zero effect on the situation - Mola has stated FP may add some latent energy but it isn't an octane booster. Now with the above brand's premiums (92 R+M/2 but they use no ethanol ) I DO get more power when I add FP!!

Look what Novadude and now LastZ are saying!

So the question remains: Does FP work better with ethanol gas?
