Formula Shell 5w-30 SN '93 Miata 2800mi

Short Summer run of Formula Shell SN 5w-30 with a Pureone filter, 2800 miles. I typically put 3-5k on the car each year, but usually closer to 5k. Oil changed for storage. PU SN 5w-30 with a pureone in now to be tested next Winter. Car is not cold started much; when taken out it is allowed to get up to temp. 65/35 hwy/city.

Nice oil. Almost 800 ppm P and over 900 ppm on Zn.

How long was this oil in service timewise?

Formula Shell is a sleeper oil. Cheap with outstanding results.

+1 - I have some from Costco, it's cheap on sale. I use it in used cars I sell.

I've been in the practice of changing the oil each year prior to storage (4 months +) per the Winterizing instructions on Miata.net. It is a habit but I am open to new ways of doing things. I just think given its usage once a year is cheap insurance.

Cheap insurance against what?

The oil is in great condition. Your only insuring against not changing it.

Leave it in two years. I have yet to sea a high acid reading on a UOA on a low mileage well looked after car after a year.
