I know what you mean. I would think the engine and transmission mounts would have to be fairly heavy duty too.I'm sure Ford has thought this through. It's been many a year since they've done something half arsed.

Seems like everything is going to a rack now...

Wait, this is a bad thing? Are you saying recirculating ball is better than rack?

I used to think that 25 years ago. But not now. Getting rid of all the steering linkage is a good thing.

Rack is more efficient and precise.
Long live the Rack and pinion.......

My 99 Panther did not have Rack and Pinion but my 05 does...It is much more efficient and precise...My 99 with the Handling Package was awesome also but like the Rack and Pinion better.

Yes I was not sure whether it had rack or not. It seems like even some trucks are starting to come out with them. Thanks for the info. I guess the electric steering is the latest hot thing.

Seems that they are still working out the kinks though.

The Panther swtiched to Rack and Pinion in 2003 when the frame and suspension was also revised. I never cared for the 2002 and older overboosted CV recirculating ball, but I found even the early 03-04 rack and pinion steering was overboosted as well. The newer cars are much better.
