Ford recalls over 850,000 cars in the US due to potential fuel pump failure

Ford ( Found On Road Dead )......I think the Pinto and Tempo were good examples of this....I use to be a Mercury fan ( high end Ford). Had a 1973 Mercury Montego with a 351 Windsor in it. Couldn't kill it. I would wreck the cars, buy another Montego with a 351 Cleveland with a blown oil pump, ( there were plenty of those of those o go around ), and just swap out the engines. Must have done this 5X. I was a kid. Beat the crap out of that Windsor 351. Till one day I smashed a tree so hard, dead center in the front, I couldn't get the engine out. Switched over to Cutty's with the 350 Rockets. That was the last of any Ford I owned. Not surprised by the fuel pump issues. Not gonna knock Ford on this one. There are plenty of other manufacturer's with fuel pump issues.
FORD ( Found On Road Dominating)

Yes - even when said supplier is Denso whom Toyota owns.
LOL. I owned some 12yes ago 2005 VW Passat B5.5, 1.8T. It was really nice vehicle. Anyway, there was always talk about AC compressor and how it is typical German AC junk, compressors fail etc.
Well one day AC not working. Luckily, this was February in Alabama, not July. So, I am just browsing some parts store (online) and see a compressor on sale for some $200, OE VW. I am like, I better jump on this (mistake).
Get the compressor, open the box: Denso.
Take out old compressor, well, Denso too :)
Turns out, it was $17 relay switch. In hurry to jump on sale, I did not research other common failures.
Another good story is about VW junky transmissions, which are, well, Aisin.

Got a recall letter two weeks ago for Sequoia, low-pressure fuel pump.
So is that for all their BOF vehicles then? Bummer. They have let quality slide--my FWD"s have been nothing but spectacular on fuel pumps.

Didn't ford also have a recall on seatbelts that caught fire?

No worries, we could barely get our 5.0 F150s to a speed that required seatbelts on account of their failing cam phasers and oil consumption.

The Mach e that I cruise often has some stupid tetras game on the big dumb tablet. It locks you out of games when driving, you know, help you focus on the road. Too bad it's more complex trying to work the hvac then that dumb game.

Sorry, I digress. I hate ford with a passion and will bash them any chance I get.

Not sure. I mean, generally, I don't care about recalls. When companies do a voluntary recall, that tells me that they are following up on their vehicles and addressing issues that could not be seen during development.
BMW recently had a recall on VANOS bolts. 14yrs old car for such recall? I appreciate that.
What I have an issue with is when companies fight tooth and nail to recall vehicles for obvious problems. That was the case with Toyota AWD vehicles in 2017 and some 2018 models with junky transmissions. They never issued a recall, and never fixed problems on the HL and Sienna AWD. My friend was 36 times with HL in the Toyota dealership in Indiana, and in the end, traded vehicle for, wait for it, Pacifica. But what was the worst, was that they were convincing him that transmission is good, and when he said he wants to trade in vehicle for 2019 model, guy who appraised vehicle wrote: problematic transmission :ROFLMAO:

"Quality goes in before the name goes on." LOL That was Ford's slogan back in the day. I was once a fan boy, I gave up on them years ago.
This recall is true of any fuel injected vehicle on the road, if the pump dies so does the engine and all power/vacuum assisted accessories.
Rust free 10th gen 4x4 F150s with the 2V 5.4s are selling for 2/3rds of what they cost new around here.

Yes, true for any brand. I still own an 88 E-150, it has been great, and zero rust in NY. Having said that imo Ford dropped the ball long ago.

Or don’t have Pablo buy your car for you! :)
The only time a dead fuel pump left me stranded was a 1985 Volvo 245Ti, bought used. Towed home. Replaced in tank fuel pump. No recall that I know of, but around 250,000 miles.

The 1985 Toy SR5, rubber mallet to tank worked great to get her spinning again.

I said I wasn't knocking Ford on this one. Read my post again. I had a 1993 Olds Cierra leave me dead on the highway because the pump in the tank died. My luck it was the dead of winter no less. Froze my a-s off waiting for a tow. A lot of manufacturers have fuel pump recalls.

At least its not at risk of bursting into flames like their old cruise control harness recall
I swear, lots of those early pumps died early. Seems like it was common complaint back then. For all I know, maybe they failed less often than the mechanical fuel pumps. No idea. All I know is, my 2000 and later cars, as a rule I run 'em to empty, and run the cars past 200k, and they don't care.
