I am trying to figure out if my truck indeed has the original serpentine belt at 251k miles. The part number on the belt starts with F5TE. That would seem to indicate it’s 1995. But did ford change the part number slightly when a new year rolled around? Or did they just keep on trucking with the same part number?

That is still a current part number. That engineering number translates to E8TZ-8620-T or a more common short number of JK6-984B which is a 6 rib that is 98.4" long.

EDIT: by "current" I mean that number is still the latest level for that application, not that they use it. They tend to either go much shorter or much longer now.

You would not still be able to read a 1995 belt.

Just changed my belt on 96 Grand Marquis. I did not own the car for first 80,000 miles but now it has 192,000 and it sure looked original.
