Ford MC Filters Getting A Update

Per the PDF linked in post #1, the updated Motorcraft FL-2122-B12 that replaces the FL-820S has a metal center tube and metal end caps. Just doesn't have the base end bypass, but apparently Ford is not that concerned about it anymore, otherwise they would have retained the base end bypass design.
I’d like something I’d be comfortable running 2 OCI ideally(I do 200hr OCI). I had switched to WIX XP but I’ve had issues with the leaking in extreme cold (-40) so now they are summer use only. Maybe I’ll wait until these new filters become available.

It's been awhile, but I switched away from the Fl-820s after cutting them open and observing very wavy pleats. Went to Fram Ultras, but they now have lost their wire backing. Personally, I think the wavy pleat problem is greatest on filters pulled after a long winter with many cold starts. In warmer climates I wouldn't worry about it.

Be interesting to see if they change manufacturers for the factory supplied filters. They used to be supplied by wix but now its purolator. The amount of quality control issues they have had is unreal. My brother sent me a picture two weeks ago from the engine plant of a pallet of new filters that are rusting through the paint.
