Getting ready to do my first oil change recommends 10-30 for regular service 5-40 for severe service, going to be towing alot so going with 5-40.
I have 3 options iam considering
Rotella t6 5-40 $23 a gallon
Phillips 66 guardol xt 5-40 $32 a gallon.
Schaeffers 5-40 $45 a gallon.
Going to be changing it every 5,000 miles or once a year not going to be driving more than 5,000 miles a year.
What are you guys thoughts on these brands is it worth spending extra on the more expensive oils or is Rotella good enough.
Going to use Donaldson oil filters.

Congrats on the H.O. truck. Either of those will work. If the T6 is cheaper that would be what I'd choose. 5k will work w/any 40 grade F1 Ford spec'd oil though for severe duty.

I've been picking up T6 5w40 off Amazon by the case. Hard to beat the price! If you are sticking to 5k, it's more than good for the HO 6.7L. My F450 gets worked! My toyhauler is 23k and I flog it peddle to floor up the CO passes several times a year. Definitely severe duty use here.

Thanks guys, delo is not on fords approved list, don't want to void the warranty in any way.
Going to keep receipts on everything.
Rotella t6 is easy to get around here at Walmart and tractor supply sometimes they have sales on it for $21 a gallon.
Just hear things on some forums saying Rotella t6 foams up and is not that good of an oil that's why I was looking at other oils.

Never had any foaming issues with Rotella in the Ford 6.7's. I've had a 2012, 2019, and this 2024.

delo XSP 5w-40
Back on special at AAP. <$10 a gallon right now. Full synthetic. Shame about the phosphorous <1000 ppm.

If you're changing every 5k (fuel dilution is not concerning) and your towing isn't extreme (oil temperatures stay reasonable...as they would with that platform) 10w-30 full synthetic becomes compelling and opens up some additional F1 approved options.

Still on fence about what oil to run in it.
Have about 1,700 miles on it now going to change it soon.
Either going to run t6 or phillips 66
Can get them both pretty easy here.
Phillips 66 has a little bit higher tbn than t6 and says it has titanium additive what ever that is.
The guy that sells the phillips says all the guys using it are getting real good test results back.
I guess I will have to make up my mind what iam going to do.
Thanks guys.

Phillips and Rotella are both approved oils so I'd be surprised if one was really significantly outperforming the other. I'd go with whichever is cheaper for my truck especially given your stated ODI.

Try Valvoline Premium Blue 5w-40. Over 1,200 ppm of Zinc, Over 1,100 ppm of Phosphorous, HTHS is 4.0. And it meets the Ford oil spec. I find it at $26/gallon. Mobil's top of the line 5w-40 does not meet the Ford spec, and Mobil will tell you not to use it in a Ford diesel engine.

This was the only 5w-40 I'd run in my 2017 6.7.
