She has sure been loyal. Brought up from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in Jan. 2021 and bought 1-week later, a 2005 Suburban Z71 in Bermuda Blue. L59 (flex 5.3) and 4L60E. Starting mileage around 202k… we’ve put on close to 50k, 48k and some change to be exact.

Everything OE besides transfer case and what I’d assume transmission (case was new-like clean and blue torque converter). T-case was never refilled by whomever when we bought it and it was torn up.

So OE 5.3, front/rear diffs, electronics, etc. The 5.3 has some valvetrain noise after all this time but runs just fine and I do not care to bother with it.

Did my 2nd complete trans service on it yesterday. Dropped the pan, new Delco trans filter and added a 2nd magnet to the pan. Pan was spotless. Minimal amount of clutch dust if… honestly, any in the pan. Refilled with Valvoline Dex VI/Merc LV, unhooked the top cooler line and pumped a gallon into a clear jug. Did that about 3x until the fluid was bright cherry red. Then set the level.

Also changed the oil. Out went Mobil 1 FS Euro 0W-40 and a Microgard Select MSL51522. In went a mix of some leftovers. 1.5qt of Rotella T4 15w40, 2qts of Mobil 1 FS Euro 0W-40, 2qts of Mobil 1 ESP 0w30 and a quart of Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w20 along with another MSL51522. Also replaced the factory oil cooler block off plate with an o-ringed ICT Billet clone as it was leaking at the gasket.

Like any vehicle, it is a machine and it has had its share of repairs — alternator, water pump, brakes, ball-joints, tie rods, etc. But, beyond all of that, this has been one loyal unit. It is the wife’s and I don’t think I could pry it from her.

I’ll forever live by the notion that these are some of the best trucks that GM ever made. And I love my T1X Tahoe. Many more miles to go.

Great milestone. Buying from a rust free zone is certainly a huge part of the success. Fixing up something that's rotted out isn't as appealing as you know. V8 Power!

Clean examples are getting harder to find. Interior rattles can drive me nuts. From purely a packaging standpoint, I think torsion bars are dumb -- although they ride fine.

I for sure prefer the later IFS with struts.

Great trucks. I had an 04 GMC Sierra with 180k. Loved that truck. Had some issues with wiring and the BCM and the wife gave me permission to buy a new one.
